Falling Inside The Black Empty

He was but a ghost as he flew across the ground. Jackson's pace had rarely faltered from the moment he had decided to join a pack. He had heard the many differences between the two packs who's territories he had found himself between. The silver male had headed to the one that he felt as if it would fit the creature he had become. Erenyx. After every stride, there was another, and another. His muscles contracted with a steely precision, never faltering. It was his way now. Spring had brought the world to life, painting everything in hues of green. Now and then, Jackson came across patches of flowers or blossom trees. But he didn't stop to take in the myriad of colours, to appreciate the beauty. His only focus was on joining Erenyx.

Eventually Jackson found himself loping through the forest that surrounded the packs border. The great ancients that stood guard seemed to be consumed in an ever present darkness. The light that managed to shine down through their dense folage was muted somehow. Vegitation grew in random patches, trying desperately to reach what little light was offered to them. The mercury he-wolf slowed to a trot as the border scent became stronger. He lifted his black edged head as he scented the air, but he was unable to detect any wolves from this distance. He paused for a moment so as to howl. It was only polite to let his presance be known after all. Continuing on, he came upon the border, stopping completely.

Had the border not been so strongly scented, Jackson would still have been able to tell. The edge was worn down by the many times it had been travelled. The dirt was a black line in the shadows of the trees. The ghostly brute stalked between the trunks, head lowered, onyx tipped ears pointed sharply forward as he attempted to locate any response to his call. Finding no one, he ventured further, tail flicking about his lithe frame. Jacksons steps were light, decisive. His emerald eyes flicked quickly, annalising every shadow, every movement in the darkness. The mercury male knew that it would have to be submissive to even be considered being allowed entry. He continued to keep his head lowered, but it was done so stiffly. A smirk painted his maw as he concentrated on keeping his tail low.

Paws struck the ground as the massive male ran around his territory. It was uncommon and hardly seen of to be doing do, but on this particular day, Teren was feeling very much like his old puppy days. The bones in his body rubbed against each other at the joints and slight irritation could be felt but he did not stop. Jerking his body left and right, he pounced and lunged. He sprinted through the wild grass, kicking up dirt to his flank. His piercing emerald eyes stared to the world around him, vast and belonging to he alone. He stretched his legs and soon came to a halt. Catching his breath, his tongue lolled out of his maw, resting gently upon the jagged edges of his canines. Age played a part on his body, peppering his once completely onyx pelt with flakes and specks of silver and white. But age could not take away from his menacing appearance. Now it only displayed an experienced demon. Teren had seen his reflection form the waters around his lands, and he knew what others saw. But behind his massive stance rested the ability to shock and awe. He was big, that was true, largest in all the lands. But for a big guy he could move faster than one would think. His tail curled over his spine, waving high above his body. His ears perked, alert and ready for anything. His eyes looked left to right as he moved through the terrain. His muscles tightened and relaxed as he walked in a slow pace. But to hinder his perfect silence would be the call of a stranger. The voice sounded far from his borders by just a few feet. But it was close. Immediately he turns his body around and headed for the origin of the sound.

As he wandered towards the new wolf, he was prepared for anything. Since his reign many new wolves had been coming to his pack. It was almost as if his acts alone had spread through the lands around the pack live leaves rustling in the wind. They bounced from wolf to wolf, growing and expanding as they grew more details and lies trailed to the ends. But Teren cared not. All he wanted were competent males in this pack. He could care less about the female ones. Appearing through the shadows, the demon stood talk and proud, his tail presented perfectly for all to see and know he was king. He held in the snarl that ripped at the insides of his throat. His green gaze stared down the other, noticing his somewhat submitted position. But it had not been enough. He noticed the smug look on his muzzle and the snarl escaped. Teren was much taller than him, especially as he bowed. "If you seek entrance into this pack, you will have to show me more respect than this pitiful display.."

The ferocity that seemed a naturally occuring perfume of the brute that made his way out of the darkness set all of his hairs on edge. The male's onyx pelt gave him the elusion that he was created in shadow. Age had flecked him with white. To Jackson, those white hairs just proved how many years he had seen. How many he had survived, how many battles he had overcome. When everyone around you dies, it's the only way to see old age. As a grand achievement, rather than an admittense of weakness, as some would see it. The dominace he displayed was enough to show his rank. The greatness of his height was an added bonus. Jackson couldn't mistake this for any other than Alpha Teren of Erenyx. Upon his travels, Jackson had heard tell that he was the Alpha here. The brute stood as tall and steady as the ancients around him. A keeper of the realm. The snarl and the words that were spat at the silver male made his jaw snap shut with an audiable 'clap'. Tension rode him, making it hard for him to move at all. Deep breath Jackson, you're not battling a rogue here. This is an Alpha, so suck it up and get down. He could practically feel the other's luminous glare upon his back.

Rolling his leanly muscled shoulders so as to relax himself some, Jackson pinched his eyes together for a moment. In doing so, he gathered up his ego and pride, putting them away in the hope to stay out of trouble. The thickly haired tail curled up between his hind legs, those very legs whose long lengths began to fold. The mercury wolf's snout met the floor, the dirt dusting his white belly. The black tipped ears stayed flat on his head and he focused his emerald eyes at the brute's ebony paws. Fighting to keep his voice as respectful as possible, Jackson finally said his piece. "I would bare my stomach to you, Alpha Teren, but I'm not yet prepared to meet my maker. I fear I have already offended you, even before I have spoken. Believe me when I say, that was not my intention", he spoke steadily in an attempt to surpress any slip ups. "My name is Jackson and I have come in search of a place within your ranks. If you do not approve, then I have but myself to blame". Sadness coloured his tone, masking the anger. Jackson only had himself to rely upon, any mishaps that happened were his own fault. He hated to make mistakes. Shifting again so that his elbows rested against the ground, Jackson awaited the words that would seal his fate.

New wolves had always been interesting to Teren. He would always judge them in their first interaction. Was this wolf someone who could truly belong in Erenyx? Speaking of rolling over to expose his belly was something he had not seen in a very long time. This wolf knew about such a display, yet he did not accomplish it. Such a pity. Though, Teren truly believed only faes should be the ones to roll onto their backs, spread their legs apart and expose the soft fluffy portion of their body. That was the ultimate show of domination against a wolf. He had done nothing to truly offend the Alpha, for that was rather hard to do. Instead this male continued to apologize and even go onto speaking about his intentions. Teren listened, keeping his ears pressed forward and his dominant stance perfect. "Stand Jackson." Those were the only words he spoke while he waited for the wolf to do as he said. His green gaze stared at the other wolf, looking up and down his body as he passed his judgment. "The wolves in these lands are expected to hold the utmost when it comes to training. You will be physically challenged and mentally challenged. Every day you better be proud to live within these lands. If for one second I do not feel you belong here, I will kill you myself. What are your skills wolf? What will you have t offer unto my pack?"

Whilst the mercury male did stand he still kept his head and tail respectfully lowered. A hardness made the emerald green eyes he had been born with even more like the gemstone as the Alpha next spoke. Jackson had had many threats upon his life dealt him, each one leadong to the death of the other. Which wouldn't happen in this case. Practised as he was, Jackson would not succeed against this male. I would never give up my life for pride or vanity. And if he hadn't been physically and mentally challenged in his short existance he didn't know what was. The disasters that had been dealt him and his kin, he alone had survived and overcome. The world had lain in tatters before him, yet the silver wolf ran, and would keep running. As is my right. Death had followed him like a plague, taking everything he had, everyone he loved, everything that he was. Jackson had faced death head on and turned it around. I have plenty to offer. His tail twitched defiantly at the thought.

Clearing his throat, Jackson spoke in the steady way that was his. "Well, every day that I get to great the sun, I am proud. It's not that I fear death, merely that I wish to great my maker on my terms. Training doesn't bother me, to stay fit is to survive whilst others perish. I am an efficiant killer. I can hunt alone or as part of a unit", he paused then, unsure of how to continue. How would I describe my character? "I am loyal, and willing to prove that with my life should it come to it. Life may have made me lean but I am strong. I am also fast and agile, able to make quick decissions". His eyes squinted and a frown graced his lips for a moment when he gave up listing his good qualities. In his own mind, he had few left. But then the look was gone, replaced by a nearly emotionless mask save for the hard mockingness of his eyes, presently downcast, that never seemed to truely leave them. About them, the two darkling heathen, the shadows seemed to move of their own accord. Creatures loomed and lurked as the wind moved the branches, threat. Casting the world in black.
