A New Journey Empty
PostSubject: A New Journey A New Journey Icon_minitimeJuly 26th 2015, 21:52

A soft groan, broke the silence of twilight. Old bones, covered in a less than lush pelt of snowy darkness, creaked with old age. The large male kept pushing on though, pushing past the ache, in his heart at the loss of his nephew. Pushing past the sadness he felt. He just wish that he had stopped Toothless from making a huge mistake. But no, he had just let Toothless go his own way.

Tall green grass bent  under the weight of  the brute as he passed through it, his nose lifting to the sky to scent the area around him.  He detected a faint hint of rain on the air, a storm was coming and he could feel it. "A time for life to live, and a time for the angel of death to collect the ones and bring them to the other forest." Zedd grumbled under his breath. His pace was a little slow, his paw pads too ached with his long journey. A day or two passed again, rain that he had been smelling finally falling to cleanse the land. It was just a light rain though, lighter than he anticipated but wet nonetheless. The light pitter patter of rain fell from the heavens, making the earth smell fresh and clean but soaking into everything with insistence.

Zedd's paws squelched through mud as the morning wore on into afternoon. He hummed a tune that he had made up on his travels and yet, he could not find a reason to stand still. Birds twittered to one another as they went about their lives. Their melodies only soothing his nerves a little as he pressed on. Finally, his nose caught a curious scent, making the old male pause mid stride. His dark head came up, amber eyes sparkling with curiosity at the scent of a pack. Walking closer, Zedd came to the territory boundary of said pack. He took in the scents, wondering if a patrolling member would be by soon so as to reassert their pack scent for a rain as persistent as this one could wash the scents away in mere hours. His head lifted, jowls parting and his lungs filling with a deep breath. He let his song ring forth with deep clarity, the tones rising and falling; asking where they be. Now it was just a matter of waiting. The dark male, with a pelt that was shot with white sat his hind end down upon the ground, his tail laying beside him, beating a rhythm as he patiently waited.

(Ooc: Sorry for the delay!)

The grey female raked her gaze meticulously over the land, striding purposefully along the border. Every so often, the fae would pause to mark the border again. Overhead, green leaves ruffled in a slight wind, causing water from the recent rain to spatter over her pelt. She would have to tell Desoto to make sure the scents were strong, especially because of the rain. The Delta continued her patrol while her nose worked carefully to sift through the scents of the forest. She had found herself taking more time to check the borders. Breeze didn't mind, for it kept her muscles strong. No need to work out all the time if you are running laps around your pack everyday. The dusk cloaked fae turned, noting an unfamiliar scent nearby. It was a male. The scent was not one of a pack wolf either. Just as she began making her way forward, the stranger howled, calling to the wolves of Agavos. He shall have company, maybe sooner than he expected. The thought amused her, but she didn't show it. Instead she kept her expression as one of mild interest and curiosity. Her ears perched high on her head, tail raised only slightly as she stepped into view.

The brute was undoubtedly older than her. He seemed tired, yet also curious. Where had he come from? Was he here to simply ask about the area, or actually join Agavos? Breeze stood before the male, calm and confident. She was only showing a hint of dominance, but that could change in an instant if she wished. For now, the Delta was content to keep things pleasant. The female's golden gaze washed over him, noting his appearance before locking onto his eyes. "Hello traveler. These are the lands of Agavos, a pack lead by Alpha Desmond. I'm Delta Breeze. What brings you here to our border?" Her voice rang out, strong and perhaps slightly musical. Despite the demanding words, her tone was relaxed and calm. One could never be sure what kind of wolves would show up at the border, so the grey she-wolf remained ready for any reaction from the older brute. Thankfully though, this wolf seemed nice enough. He didn't look to be much of a threat, but then again, neither did Healer Orion. The comparison would have made her laugh if she hadn't been on border patrol. Instead, she continued to observe the stranger.

The old male sat waiting at the boarder of the new pack, his tail still thumping out a rhythm. He didn't have long to wait though as a dusky fae approached. She held herself with confidence, her head high but her tail not so much. Ah, she must not be a very high ranking fae, he noted, thinking to himself. Dark amber eyes, softened as she spoke with authority, holding herself with a hint of dominance. "Good day child," he greeted, "Thank you for answering two of my questions, I had wondered what lands I had traveled too. I have come for two reasons actually. I am looking for a new home first off, the other reason is that I am searching for a red-hued young male about three years old. Have you seen him? He goes by the name of Toothless." The old male cocked his head inquiringly, watching the fae with a bit of hope in his eyes.

The rain fell through the trees, pattering against the deep green of the leaves and in the distance thunder rumbled playfully. One of the elderly male's ears turned back, listening to a song bird sing to its mate. Everything moved with life, never slowing and surely never stopping. Everything happened for a reason and if this old male couldn't get news of his nephew then he would move on and hope he was still alive out there somewhere.

(OOC: good lord this sucked let me know if it's too short I ran a little short on inspiration)

Child? Sparks flared in the Delta's golden gaze. Her tail lifted higher as a growl rumbled within her chest. "Be careful with how you address wolves ranked higher than yourself. I personally am perhaps the most casual of the high ranking in Agavos. Just keep that in mind, loner." Breeze snapped. Her teeth flashed only momentarily, warning him before she relaxed once more. "You're welcome. I have neither seen a red pelted male, nor heard of the name Toothless. Now I can address your wish to join. Do you intend to stay here within Agavos if you join our pack, or will you simply wander away again to find this wolf? If you intend to leave, this is not the pack for you." The grey female said. Curiosity simmered within her. What would this wolf say? Would he turn away? It seemed as if he was indeed very kind. She waited patiently for his response, resting her haunches on the earth neatly. Her head was still held with confidence. Despite her seated position, the Delta remained ready for any reaction from the male.

The older gentleman dipped his head, a chuckle of humor emanating from his deep chest. His tail stilled it's thumping beat as he then raised his dome, dark amber eyes glittering with playful mischief. "Oh, dear me. Forgive me young miss, I meant no disrespect. I have a habit of calling ones much younger than myself child." Zedd bobbed his greying head in apology, though the playful mischief traveled to his lips in a friendly smile. "It has granted me a scar a time or two in the past but it's a habit I just can't seem to break. Again, you have my sincere apologies" Such a fiery temper this young fae had, and with only a single word as child that could irritate her so. Wolves were so touchy with personal things that Zedd had rather liked it when he had been by himself, even if it had been lonely without his nephew.

The aged male listened to her as she gave her report of not seeing nor hearing of a male with Toothless' description. Zedd's heart dropped, but he still hoped that his nephew was still alive and well somewhere. There was no way though, to see if he was alive, only if he wished to travel until he dropped dead from either exhaustion or starvation. One his age could only catch so much by one self. It was better to either end his days settled in a pack or keep walking until he reached the Other Forest. Frankly he liked his first option better. That is if the pack was relatively calmer than ones he had met on his journey. With a sad sigh his dark orbs glanced to the ground in thought of his nephew Toothless. Then he looked back up to the fae as she asked her questions if he would stay or move on to find the wolf he was looking for.

"Nay, child, I wish to stay. To wander aimlessly through the wood is to wander for all time and mine is nearly up. I wish to rest my tired bones in one spot until it's time to walk in the Other Forest." Zedd cocked his head, wondering about this pack called Agavos. "Forgive me, where are my manners. My name is Zedd, and you child? What's your name and what can you tell me about your pack?"

Breeze relaxed as the old wolf appologized. She figured as much, but she wanted to get her message across. "Of course...I am simply warning you that you shouldn't use that term in front of any other high ranks besides myself." The fae replied with a dip of her head. A spark of understanding and approval danced within her golden orbs as the brute explained his wish to find a home. It would be difficult for an older canine to constantly be wandering. Not only that, but she was sure that he was sure to get lonely. A small smile of amusement danced upon her lips at the mention of his manners and introductions. She had all ready introduced herself...but for some reason he hadn't heard her, hadn't been paying attention, or had already forgotten. The old wolf even had questions for her. "I'm Delta Breeze. Agavos is run by the strong and fair leader, Alpha Desmond. We value loyalty and respect here in this pack." The dusky female said. She paused to let the information sink in. "Tell me Zedd, what skills can you offer?" She asked. The large she-wolf would wait patiently for the brute's response, flicking an ear as water fell from the green canopy above.

The sweet scent of freshly fallen rain saturated the air around the canine pair, making it soothing for the large dark brute. But as the way with all weather, it began to slacken. The dark clouds slowly moved on to water the green earth elsewhere. Birds began to sing in earnest now, a woodpecker thrummed its sharp beak against a tree off into the distance, looking for a meal of delectable grubs. The sun came out to shine brightly, it's rays shining through the water droplets making them sparkle like stars fallen to earth.

The dark brute watched the fae relax her posture a bit after he apologized. Zedd nodded his head in acknowledgement to her warning, and he hoped that with his old age that he wouldn't forget like he sometimes did. His memory was good with important things, like in healing and common customs of all wolf packs, but it was the little things that he forgot. Sometimes he would forget to eat or sometimes and not very often he would forget a name or two. That's what drove him a little frustrated sometimes.

A smile of amusement graced the dusky fae's lips and Zedd couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked when she did. His heart lurched a bit, a memory of a sweet young pup who had smiled at him with amusement welling up in his river of memories. Before he could let his painful memory show he banished it as he again bowed his head, this time in respect for a higher ranking wolf. Zedd waited a beat after the fae paused, then he spoke himself. "I am honored to meet you Delta Breeze. It is good to hear that your Alpha is strong and fair, I can hear the respect for him ringing in your voice as well as your loyalty. Such Alphas are hard to find these days. Most are bent on destroying one another out of petty reasons." He too paused, listening to the Delta ask her important question. This was his make or break answer. If it was acceptable to the delta his journeying days would be over, yet, if not, he would have to keep wandering until he found a home or until he walked to the Other Forest.

"My skills are that of a healer. I have a good store of knowledge that I would like to use to help others. Would you have need of a healer in your pack child?" His words rang with honesty as he spoke from his heart. It was what he had to offer and he hoped it would be enough.

The dusk pelted she-wolf smiled warmly as Zedd commented on Agavos and Alpha Desmond. He was absolutely right about the way many Alpha's let pride and selfishness guide them. It often led to war or fighting within the pack itself. The topic faded as quickly from her mind as it had appeared. The Delta listened as the salt-and-pepper male spoke of his abilities as a healer. Her golden eyes gazed at him with interest. Aha! Well we just lost Ashlen, and this brute probably has many many years of experience. I'm sure Sofiel and Orion would welcome another Healer. Perhaps they could even learn a thing or two from this wolf. The decision was made after a moment of consideration. "Well Zedd, another healer would be welcome here. Do you pledge your loyalty to Agavos and it's Alpha?" The female's voice held a cheerful note, despite the seriousness of the question. Of course, the older wolf had already stated that once he settled down, he would not leave again. Regardless, Breeze felt the need to formally ask him the question before accepting him.

Zedd waited patiently as the dusky fae considered his words and smiled again as he praised her pack and her Alpha male. What he had said was true, he was happy to have stumbled upon a pack with much to offer in goodness. If she had hesitated to to tell him about her pack he would have simply moved on to greener pastures. But the honest in her body language spoke volumes to him. His tail took up the steady beat again, thumping against the leaf strewn ground.

"Aye, I pledge myself and my skills to this pack and Alpha Desmond." Zedd stood to his feet, shaking his coat to dislodge the remaining rain water and debris. Amber eyes filled with joy at the prospect of coming to a new home. Suddenly, a pair of doves flitted through the trees overhead. One landed over their heads, giving a call to the other. Zedd looked up, it was a good sign and he would take it that coming to the Agavos boarder was a good choice.

The older brute gave his word, his voice ringing with a sincere note. Above them, a pair of doves flew gracefully. One landed on a branch overhead, while the other conitued to fly towards the heart of Agavos. The sight of the birds seemed to bring joy to the salt-and-pepper brute. Perhaps he saw it as a good omen? Whatever the case, Breeze was glad to see her new packmate was so happy to be accepted. It's good to have wolves who are so eager to be a part of the pack! She thought. The Delta dipped her head in acknowledgement and approval. "Then you shall be known as Healer Zedd. Welcome to Agavos." She declared. The large fae smiled warmly and stepped aside. "You can either follow me back to the pack clearing and the Healer's Den, or you can explore the pack lands and find your own way back. The choice is yours." She said and turned on her heel. There was no reason to rush, so she kept a relaxed pace as she made her way through the lush verdure of the forest. Her paws carried her through the lands, back towards the pack clearing.
