PostSubject: Victoria's Acceptance April 22nd 2013, 15:58

She'd been traveling for weeks now, wandering between packs and the loner life, moving further and further south of her homeland with every day that passed. She wanted as much distance between her and her family as possible. Eventually, she gave up on the packs that she'd stopped at here and there, finding no substance or reason to stay in them. There was nothing there for her, no home, no companionship, nothing. At this point, she didn't really think there was any hope at all for finding a suitable new home. She had standards, after all. She wasn't exactly a dominant or demanding wolf, but she wasn't stupid either. She knew what a good pack consisted of, and she could tell the strong from the weak, the intelligent from the unintelligent. That had never been hard for her. More like a second nature, a talent she'd been born with.

She'd spent little time sleeping in the past few days, mostly because of the pangs of hunger that riddled her stomach as she moved, the organ empty and longing for ever the smallest of meals. But she'd just come out of another pack's territory, and though she was a talented hunter, she wasn't about to steal from a pack's territory. That was just something that should not be done. She might need the food, but she wasn't a thief. So instead, she waited until she left their borders, finally snagging herself a small hare in an unclaimed area before moving on, her hunger sated for the time being. So she moved on, finally coming to a stop as the powerful scent of many wolves filled her nose. She'd happened upon another pack. The realization made her pause, ears perked and nose lifted, inhaling the scents and analyzing what was before her.

She had a few options here. She could go through the territory and do her best not to be noticed, coming out the other side and going on her way. Or, she could howl and ask permission to pass through, or even just take the long way around. And her last option, one she now seemed to be leaning towards, was to ask for acceptance. But she knew nothing about this pack. Why would she ask to join a pack that she knew so little about? So, slowly and carefully, she lifted her slender muzzle, her blue eyes closing as her jaws parted, sending a soft, sweet song up into the sky, calling to the dominant wolves of this territory in hopes of getting at least a little more information and knowledge about the pack that resided here.

At the sound of acceptance, she did not hesitate to question her options. The ebony fae darted through the woods, following the howl towards the pack's border. She swiftly dodged wide tree trunks and kicked up dirt every time her pads touched surface. Juno hummed a soft tune as she ran, her ears pressed into her cranium and chest rising and falling rapidly. By the rate of how fast she was maneuvering through the terrain it did not take at all that long before she reached the opening of the woods, squinting at the change of bright lighting as the fae came closer. She could smell the scent of the loner in which seemed to be the smell of a female nearby. Her eyes peeked around through the bushes, flicking passed a white figure laying at the border's ground. Juno raised her tail to her back taking on a dominant stance like she was expected of and she smiled kindly.

Moving into the open, she walked towards the fae but kept a safe distance on the pack's side. She had come across many wolves in her days of coming here, some were more than friendly like Warrior Odin, but some held the more shy personality like Warrior Chiara. Both she had managed to befriend along the way, taking the advantage of learning their ways to help with her social skills with newbies. Her eyes met the ghostly white female's. "Greetings, fae. I am Delta Juno." She paused before continuing as she looked over the fae's build. Of course with the unneeded help of the onyx she-wolf's long legs, Juno stood a little taller than the fae and the female seemed to have an average build. She held her self quite nicely, for she was a beautiful fae that possessed the same color pelt as the young Apprentice of whom is the sister of one of her dearest friends. "What is your doing of coming across my pack's border?"

It didn't take long for her call to be answered by the presence of a black female, obviously some sort of high ranking member of the pack that resided in the area. At first she let her head dip in a half-bow respectfully, greeting the stranger and keeping her posture passive as she sat there, ears twitching slightly at the sound of the introduction and question. "It is a pleasure to meet you, my name is Victoria." She said softly, her voice feminine and her words relaxed and slow. Obviously she knew what she was doing, as she'd been greeted at many borders before, and she silently sized up the female in front of her as she spoke, taking in her form, size, posture, and scent all at once. She was not one of those wolves that would just roll over for anyone, and she wasn't about to just submit and beg for acceptance. No, she knew nothing about this pack. Hell, she didn't even know if she wanted to be a part of it. So she saw no reason in bending over backwards and looking pathetic in doing so.

Her posture, however, was anything but disrespectful. She knew that a lone wolf ranked lower than a pack wolf, no matter what their rank, and she kept herself positioned accordingly. Luckily, she was smaller than this female, so it required little to no effort to keep her head lower than that of the dark female before her. "I came across your pack's borders in my travels. I was born into a pack far north of here, which I left about a year ago to travel on my own. I've come across several packs since then, yet none have suited me." She said softly, seeing no reason to raise her voice, since - just like any normal wolf - this female would easily be able to hear her soft tones from the short distance away that she was. "To say that I seek acceptance into your pack would not be the entire truth. In fact, I know nothing about your pack. I have only recently found your borders, which I have not yet entered. I know nothing about how many wolves reside here, what kinds of prey there is available, how much prey is available, what skills the wolves here have, what skills the wolves here need, and so on. I won't lie and say that I don't want to know these before asking for acceptance, either." She said, her voice still calm and relaxed, not at all dominant or agitated.

"I've made that mistake before. Joined a pack that did not have the ability or skills necessary to sustain the number of wolves that lived there. Needless to say, that pack didn't last very long. Nor did I stay long." She added, curling her tail around her paws as she tilted her head slightly, watching the female before her. She'd made it clear in her explanation that she was inquiring about the pack, it's numbers, and the abilities of the members, and she saw no point in continuing to speak. She'd said all she had wanted to, and now she waited for a response from the pack member on the other side of the borders. She would be interested in joining, if the answers to her questions were suitably answered, but if not, she would carry on her way and find a pack that could sustain her as well as the rest of their members.

Juno nodded along to Victoria's honesty, grinning peacefully to herself. "Well for one, welcome. Your honestly leads me to know that I can trust you, for now at least. You may ask as many questions as you please, as long as you speak with complete truth I shall return it in my own." She nodded slightly to the ivory wolf for her allowance to ask freely. A moment of pause rushed over them, not an awkward pause but a period of time to wait. Finally she spoke again to answer some of the examples she has know knowledge about what-so-ever. "As you know I am a Delta, where as I lead the evening hunts with the rest of the Hunters and some Warriors. I have come to know the area quite well and in my experience, there are cougars and alligators upon these lands." The two animals scared the life out of her. She could still remember the cougar swiping at her and tossing against the tree, everything after that was a blur. Marrok had said that he carried her bareback and she was unconscious till she got to the Healer's Den, but she couldn't remember.

She shuck the memory away once the scar underneath the fur on her cheek started to pinch her flesh. "As for the members and skills in need, there is never enough of Hunters and Warriors to have. Before I jump to conclusions, may I ask what that pack could benefit off you? I presume you have had a history of abilities worth telling. I rarely come across a loner in my days that give their extend of respect so nicely, most would shake a bit or become nervous like a little pup." She smirked slightly, followed by a small smile to her emerald eyes.

The white female listened quietly to the dark wolf speak, not at all surprised when she was asked for her skills and abilities. After all, a pack would need to know what a lone wolf could do for their pack before allowing them entrance, right? She thought for a moment, stringing words together in her mind and organizing thoughts before opening her mouth to speak, lest she look like a fool for not figuring things out before speaking them. She knew far too many wolves that just opened their mouths and said the first thing on their mind, and well, in her opinion, they always looked dumb and inexperienced when they did so. After a few moments, though, she managed to organize her thoughts, her mouth opening slowly to speak as she once again addressed the Delta before her.

"I grew up in a small family pack to the north of here. Though my family was close and loving, I was the least social of my litter and ended up in the lowest of ranking because of this. Don't get me wrong, I have no qualms with my family, yet I do not believe I deserved the rank that I was forced into." She said softly, her posture still respectful, but relaxed as she carefully uttered her thoughts. "I learned from a young age how to hunt, and even in the rank of Omega I was just as talented of a hunter as the rest of my family, if not more so. Yet I was always respectful, as it is traditionally the higher ranking wolves that lead the hunts and the lower ranking wolves that follow orders. After all, it is dangerous to just go about and hunt however one likes instead of doing as you're told. That's how injuries and even deaths happen on a pack hunt." She said, explaining her views on hunting as a pack. Basically to her, the pack hunted as a unit, not as individual members. If she had to swallow her pride and do what she was told in order for the hunt to be safe and successful, then so be it. The pack was more important to her than her pride.

But hunting was not the only thing that she believed herself good for. No, there were many other talents she had, but only a few that were worth telling at the time. After all, she was not really one for bragging, as she saw no point in being conceited and full of herself. Wolves that thought they were God's gift to the world annoyed her. She had more important things to do than brag and flatter herself in such a way. "I wouldn't say that I'm a Warrior, exactly, but I can definitely hold my own in a fight. I hold the typical arctic wolf build, which is smaller than most species around here, but that does not mean I do not understand the ins and outs of a proper fight. I tend to try and avoid such confrontations if possible, but I do have some sort of pride that I hold onto. I can be stubborn and determined when challenged, and I do not take insults lightly. Respect has always been an important thing for me as well. Like I mentioned before, I am not used to holding a high rank, which is alright with me. I have no problem showing the proper respect to those above me. After all, a pack hierarchy is quite important to the success, safety, and happiness of a pack." She said, doing her best to put her thoughts into words to properly explain her views on a pack and pack life, as well as what her place was and what she believed it should be.

Her way of such words and little history kept her attention at bay, it was not common for the fae like herself to come across another of which agreed on the same as her. It was strange to find out that the pure white wolf had been given the lowest rank overall. From what Juno has seen so far, no one would of never of known that she had been an Omega before wandering upon these lands. The female nodded slightly, keeping her emotions out of the way to not give away her internal feelings of little surprise. "In my opinion, I agree with you completely. You certainly didn't deserve to be appointed an Omega just because of your lack of socialization. I feel others should have the right to when they want to speak and not, right?" Juno paused to let the fae think about it and respond to her opinion. Both of her hunting and fighting skills did not surprise the delta at all for she held her body in great form and her posture leveled. "I will not under any circumstances gift you with such a low of rank. Your abilities are far to great to be an Omega, Victoria. You may hold a smaller build then most wolves but I've seen some of the strongest individuals come from such bodies. I would not be surprised at all to see such strength and agility come from you."

The female squinted her ivy hues with slits of yellow when the early evening's sun appeared out from it's hiding space from behind the cumulus clouds above. It wasn't the warmest it had been all season, but it definitely wasn't coolest,in which the sun did little to warm the fur on her back. "Respect is the key to surviving around here other than trust in others. Of course, with trust comes responsibility, but I'm sure both you and I know lots of responsibilities to uphold in every rank of the pack. Even an Omega is expected to have duties to be fulfilled, orders to follow like you had said." Juno tilted her head a tad, speaking calm and smooth as her ears slowly tucked close to her onyx head. "You had also mentioned that you could be considered as a Warrior, but your hunting skills stretched further. If I may ask, have you ever hunted a larger prey be yourself? Like, say a large buck? Or were you only allowed to hunt with the pack when they grouped?" Her chin dipped slowly out of respect for the wanderer, then raising it back up to perform more dominance in her rank. "Excuse me for asking, I tend to get a little too curious with newcomers. It's not everyday that I come across a fae that has such potential whom was given to be an Omega of their previous pack."

She had to admit that she was a bit surprised at the flattery that came from the dark wolf's mouth, but she did not agree verbally or disagree verbally. She was not one to deny flattery, nor was she one to flatter herself further by saying that the other was of course, correct. A simple nod of her head in thanks was enough for her, and she tilted her head slightly at the inquiry as to her hunting abilities. "I've hunted on my own ever since I left my parents' pack, though I usually stick to smaller, sickly deer and small animals, as it would be foolish to take on large, healthy prey on my own. Hell, even a full pack tends to be smarter to stick to the sickly and weaker of a herd." She said softly, answering to the best of her ability. She was a skilled hunter, and she wasn't about to deny that fact. Nor was she going to praise her abilities like she was God's gift to the world.

She was not the best there was, nor was she the worst. But she had talent, that was for sure. A pack would be lucky to have her. "I do believe I would make a better hunter than a warrior in your pack." She said softly, stating her desired position, should she be allowed membership into the residing pack. She had a lot to offer them, and they seemed to have a lot to offer her, so it seemed like a decent fit. She would not, however, change her personality to get along with everyone in the pack. If others did not like the fact that she was not as social as them, they'd have to just deal with it and get over it. She'd never been one too interested in changing herself for the benefit of others. Either they liked her the way she was, or they weren't worth the time and effort. She shouldn't have to change for anyone, nor did she plan to.

[[ I suggest you don't have to reply after this. You may change your name to Warrior Victoria.for now and once the split has occurred, change it to Hunter Victoria. My apologies for ghosting you a little. If it's a problem, I can change it. ]]

Victoria's true smarts sent a smile to curl back her lips, nodding along. "Well, I'd love to see what you are capable in action, but now that you have proven your abilities, there is just one thing I have left to ask..." She trailed off to look directly into the snow white female's eyes before continuing. "I've experienced many incidents and injuries from wolves as well as I around this pack that could of lead to death, but were luckily found and saved.Dramatic as it may sound coming from me, it is the complete truth. Would you lay down your life to save another or cower just to save your own soul? If you wish to be a Hunter of this pack, swear your oath now." Juno raised herself from the ground with her tail held closer to her back, the emotions of anticipation left her face. She had no doubt that Victoria wouldn't swear her oath for she used to be an Omega, the rank that most would commanded by higher ranks and obey without question.

When the fae nodded and swore her oath with complete finess, Juno grinned and nodded in return. "I believe your strengths will keep the pack at leveled with the foodpile, plus the fact you will be working with me and my mate, Delta Marrok." The name of the sweet male of hers sent a warmth so similar down her spine, but thankfully Juno remained dominant. "Not many of the Hunters are as social either, so I'm sure you'll be left alone once you are settled in." The delta female shook her head in 'good bye' and within seconds she was sprinting back into the timber to wait for Marrok to return from a long day of work. The image of him heading in their den made her secretly smile, increasing her speed like he was a drug that took over her mind.
