Cocum had been wandering around the lands for a long time, he had come across this border line. He watched the surroundings, it was a pretty place *Perhaps it is time to join a pack again? he thought slowly, the last years had been rather thought, a couple of bears and other bigger animals had been killing off the preys before he could do it. But he had been cunning, and when the sun had gone down and the lands had been covered in darkness he would sneak out from his hiding place to eat from the carcasses. He walked slowly to the border line making sure that he didn't step over it, he didn't need to be a tree passer at this moment. He felt quit comfortable in the area, he would like to stay here and help the pack that called this place home, if he were allowed to that is.

He thought about his life in his old pack when he trained to be the future alpha, could he so easily give up on everything that he was trained to and instead step down and become wolf of another rank? He thought about it for a moment, but he already knew the answer, he had never viewed himself as higher ranking than the other wolves simply because he was the future alpha, and it wouldn't affect him now, he had been alone for so long now, no company or soothing voices, he could just fine adapt to living as a wolf that wasn't a alpha. He looked in the trees his blue/grey eyes scanning the area before he howled a loud and clean howl, he then stood there waiting for another wolf to come to hear him out.

(Ooc - I'll keep it short and sweet for you)

Magnus took pride in his pack. So far reports showed his members worked well together and he found nothing to dispute that. He was confident he was leading them well, though he still had the feeling there was something more he could be doing. He was always on the lookout for any candidates for a Scout, but he could never just offer the position to a wolf at the border. A Scout was an important wolf, they had to have the trust of their Alpha as they slipped into enemy territory  undetected to gather information on their neighbours. They had to be stealthy, quick-witted and able to handle themselves in any situation. They had to have a very particular set of skills and that could only be discerned through careful observation of their interactions within the pack. The Alpha had to know who he was trusting to gather his information. The only positive to giving the position of Scout to a newcomer at the border was the unrecognisable face. A new face would cause less suspicion than a more familiar one. But, one pro did not outweigh a myriad of uncertainty.

It was late afternoon when the call came from the border and Magnus was all too eager to answer. He enjoyed knowing his pack closely. Plus it was fun to tease his mate by saying he knew more wolves than she did. They were a competitive pair, always attempting to outdo the other, so the Alpha was quick to respond to the site of the call, making it in record time. He was chuckling to himself as his run slowed to a trot slowed to a walk. he grinned at the male, the exercise having put him in a good mood. "Greetings to you, brute. I am Alpha Magnus of Pyrvanthros. It is our borders you stand at. Might I know your name and purpose here?" He always asked the same questions even though he knew why they were there. One never knew when they might come up against a Scout attempting to enter their own lands.

"A honor to meet you Alpha Magnus. My name is Cocum. I wish to join your pack" he stated simply watching the alphas every move back in his old pack the alpha wouldn't greet the newcomers the job was given to the elites or the future alpha. "I will be honest with you Alpha Magnus. I was born to be an alpha, but my father madness drove me away from my old pack known as Calym. I was raised by uncles on my fathers side. They trained my as a hunter, a warrior a bit of healing I also know of, nut much but a bit." he admitted honestly his charismatic voice let the words roll off his tongue without problems or hesitation.

"However I do know how to fit in as a wolf who isn't an alpha. I care for those around me, I stay loyal to those around me. The only reason that I did not kill my father were the simply reason that he were family." he were nothing but honest, if he would have any hope of being accepted into the pack he felt like he should let the alpha at least know of his past "Which rank you fell I could fit is up to you, I will accept it" he stated to the alpha.

Magnus lowered himself to sit before the male, leaning his weight to one side. It was good he was having a good day. "Well then Cocum, tell me a bit about yourself." He appraised the male who appeared similar in height although perhaps smaller in frame. Although the male was of Alpha stock - something to be mindful of as Magnus had known a number of self-entitled Alpha-heirs with attitude problems - he liked what he heard. A range of skills, supposed loyalty and some sort of honour code by the sound of things. "We like our members here to be well-rounded in other fields, so that's good to hear. But I must ask a more serious question Cocum, how many wolves have you killed and why?" These questions he never used to ask but found them to be extremely important. Back in Erenyx it didn't matter if you'd killed or why, but Pyrvanthros was different to Erenyx. So he asked. He needed to know exactly who he was letting into his pack. This was his family, he had to protect his family.

(Ooc - please be wary of your punctuation and capitalisation.)

Cocum was taken a bit back by the question of how many wolves he had killed, but of course it were an important question and he were happy that the Alpha in front of him had asked it "I have killed one wolf. In my old pack my father ruled, in my youth he was a kind and caring alpha everyone in the pack were equals. But something snapped inside him at some point, and he went mad. I have a younger sister who had fallen in love with a male from another pack. My father refused to let her go, it was at that point that I had enough he had earlier killed my mother in front of me and my younger siblings had I not dragged them away they would have seen their mothers lifeless body. I helped my sister escape from our pack. There were two male wolves out patrolling the borders and they have for a long time looked at my sister the wrong way. I first asked them to let us pass, they refused one of them attacked me, I knew that I couldn't die there I had to get my sister to safety so I killed him first. The other male took off and I brought my sister to her love." he took a deep breath after finishing his story, that was the only time he had killed a wolf, but he would do it again if it mean that his family were safe. He looked the alpha in the eyes "I would do it again if it meant that my family or pack were safe" he said in a serious voice as he stood in front of the alpha he didn't feel threatened by the fact that it was a alpha he had just looked in the eyes, but he remembered that in some packs it was considered rude to look the alpha in they eyes and he looked down at his own paws.

It was inevitable. Most wolves to come to their borders were killers. Some had only taken life in self defence, others under orders. Back in Erenyx he'd known wolves to take life for the pleasure, it was why they'd gone to Erenyx. Creatures with dark souls could find their home in that place, among their kin. Cocum was one of those who claimed to have killed only in self defence. Magnus did not mind so much - how could he, knowing his own blood-smeared past? - but the reasoning did interest him. To protect his sister. If there was a better reason to kill, Magnus could not think of one and the male saying quite honestly that he would do it again meant he held no regrets in the actions required to see his sister safely away from their birth pack. "You have protected your family, there is no higher honour. I do wonder, where do you believe your skills are more predominant? Hunting or fighting? I would prefer to give you the rank best suited to your abilities. That is, if you can swear your loyalty to me, my mate and our pack." He held the younger males gaze with his own blazing eyes, taking it as a sign of the brutes honesty and determination. The male was lucky, had he done such a thing facing Teren or Steele at the border he would have lost his life. Magnus was kinder in a sense although it was more that the male had caught him in a pleasant mood.

(Ooc - again, please remember to check your punctuation and capitalisation. Specifically at the beginning and end of sentences, i.e. full stops, etc.)

" I think that my skills are best suited for a hunter. ” Cocum replied with honesty, fighting was not a thing he enjoyed, but he would do it if it meant that his pack and family were safe. Hunting meant that he would make sure that his pack would get food and therefor they could survive and continue to grow. He looked at the Alpha not his eyes just slightly above his head before Cocum bowed his head and spoke loud and clear "It would be my honor to swear my loyalty to you, your mate and the pack you rule, I swear that I will protect you in signs of danger. I will fight by your side when war is raging. I will hunt food for your pack so that it can grow strong. I swear that I will never betray you, your mate or you pack. ” he vowed to the male in front of him as much as to the earth and to the spirit of those that were before him. His tail were swaying just enough so that you could see it. Cocum looked up at the alpha " I swear to protect this pack to my dying breath and may my spirit come back and protect these lands when my body dies. ”he said as he stood a bit more straight as the words left his tongue with ease covered with honesty.

(OOC: I’m so sorry for the long wait Alpha Magnus!)

Magnus felt a momentary swell of excitement in his chest as Cocum believed himself to be a preferable hunter. He always held a little soft spot for wolves of the rank, having always aspired to be one as a pup. He was pleased to hear the male swear loyalty to his pack. But he often wondered how many truly understood the gravity of their words. They were promising their life in service to their Alpha, to accept and obey their orders without question, to provide counsel when called upon and even to kill whenever and whomsoever was deemed necessary. Many spoke the words far too easily but had yet to disappoint, he hoped Cocum would not be the first to do so. He added a little extra onto his oath, swearing to protect the lands even in death, if such a thing were possible. Magnus had heard enough. "You have my thanks, Hunter Cocum. I hope you can honour your oath until your dying day. Come, I will show you the way to the pack clearing."

Cocum has been Accepted. Please change your name to Hunter Cocum and add yourself to the Pyrvanthros group under the Ranks tab and feel free to post in the pack lands.

I thank you alpha Magnus. ” Cocum said and bowed his head down as a sign of respect before he waited for the alpha to show him the way to the pack clearing, where his new life was about to begin. Cocum couldn’t remember last time he had been so happy, perhaps the time when he saw his sister disappear over the border to her mate’s pack. Yes that must have been the last time he felt as happy as he did in that moment. The scent of these lands would soon be his own, and he would provide food for the pack. The pack that he could now call his home. Moreover, for a moment some sunlight shone through the leaves and spread a warm across his body, he took this as a good sign. A sign that he made the perfect choice since he left his birth pack.
