Pacing. Ten steps to forward, turn around, ten steps to forward in that direction. Mumbling, words racing through his mind that he said allowed but could not be understood. He shook his head, tail lashing to and fro behind him. He knew, he had the feeling. Or at least for one of the siblings really. Xymnesia, he felt the pull stronger with her than Raagnar. But there was a smaller spark with him that told him he had a connection with him. But he had no evidence that they were his own. How could he even bring that up? Make them believe him? They wouldn't, especially not the young she-wolf. She believed strongly they were the bad ones, and maybe they were. They had taken them away with so much less than an explanation. Stomping his paw harder down into the dirt then necessary, the Elite came to a halt. His murmuring did not cease, however it turned into a flow of words that he could barely understand himself.

Connecting the Dots [Fel] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Connecting the Dots [Fel] Connecting the Dots [Fel] Icon_minitimeJuly 11th 2016, 15:42

Finished bones toppled onto the pile that would later be crushed and buried. Very few scraps remained on the carcass of the rabbit, and the fur was given to Blaire to play with. She was still a pup, after all. Fel hadn’t told her to amuse herself with it or anything though. Instead, she simply dropped it off in the autay’s den in the corner that smelled like her. The young ginger fae was out exploring or whatever it is that pups do in their free time, and the autays were out watching them.

The young apprentice was small for now, but by the size of her steadily growing paws, she would become very large. Perhaps not as big as Fel herself, but still, Blaire would be a formidable opponent… especially if trained well. With that knowledge, the beta was somewhat pleased. Already, her beloved creature was the lead of her rank, despite her deficient size. What might Blaire do in the future? With so many wolves to train her, she could turn the tides of war someday. But not yet. For now, she had to keep building her strength. Fel had assigned her six rabbits to be delivered by tomorrow, and Blaire knew not to be late. And after that, she could play with the soft fur she was awarded with.

The raven wolf turned and went on a quick patrol of the inner pack, as it was one of her duties to monitor everyone’s well-being and safety. Everyone had to follow pack law, all the dens had to be in working condition, all stocks had to be monitored, patrols had to be run… The list just went on. This wasn’t even mentioning pack security. Fel checked by the healer’s den, finding Crow out again but the smell of herbs stronger than it was a few days before. She trotted along past a couple of other dens, noticing wolves and watching their behaviour, actions, and attitudes, acknowledging them with an impersonal greeting once they noticed her silent presence. And then she heard unintelligible murmurs and saw a black figure pacing: one she recognized as Desoto. The brute had suddenly come to a stomping halt, but continued rambling nonsense to himself as she approached. The elite was preoccupied in his mind, and she wondered if he even noticed her. To catch his attention, she said with a bite to her tone, “Now what’s a brute like you doing in such open territory as this? Talking to the wind, or to his poor eyesight?” She smirked, tail tip flicking in amusement as she waited for the snarky response that she expected out of him.

During his, probably most, odd moment in time behavior wise, the brutish female showed up. He noticed her walk up, and look at him, but he made no move to acknowledge her presence. The she-wolf knew that he wasn't going to be good and always following subordinate, and to expect him to be such was just plain stupid. Even Desmond knew he didn't interact the same way that other wolves might, he was loyal to Agavos and worked hard, and that was enough. Oh but then the blue-eyed wolf must speak, her words as sassy as they always were when directed solely on him. Their little banter was amusing at times, but right now it is not what he needed. Letting the insult on his eyesight pass Desoto simply just turned away from the vixen, his tail waving behind him as a sign to leave. "Not in the mood, Fel. There is too damn much to think and try to figure out for our damn sassy comments." Lowering his rump to the ground, the Elite shut his eyes in an attempt to shut everything out and his ears went flat. He respected Fel, though he would never admit it, but he didn't need the leader of the opporation that brought the pups here in the first place....

Eyes flashing open he quickly jumped up and turned around, facing the Beta female. "You," he said, ears gesturing towards her. "You can help me, actually. But all joking and insulting aside, I really need information only you and Desmond, probably, know. And quite frankly, I cannot ask him. If you tell me what I need to know, I will tell you why. However you can't tell anyone else. Please, I'm going out of my mind here." His golden orbs practically begged her to help him, and his tense body screamed with tension that needed to be released. He couldn't just sit there and wait for much longer, he needed to take the opportunities given to him in order to move forward with his life that seemed in a stand still.

Fel watched him with silent apathy, not particularly caring for his mood or feelings. If he didn’t want her casual tone, he got his wish. As soon as the tail waved in a dismissive manner, she snapped at it. She aimed to miss, but to let the clasp of her jaws be heard. It was a warning. She would never take orders from a lesser rank, nor would she tolerate this behaviour. Fel didn’t care if he was contemplating the demise of Teren or the existence of their species: she would not be dismissed in such a manner in public. Agavos was a tight ship, and she was charged with running it. If every low-level warrior and pup saw the manner in which he reported to his packmates, they could find excuse for their own disobedience. It wasn’t about insubordination, but rather, it was about decency.

It was this that made his further approach, one as eager as the naivety in Petra’s eyes when she prodded about life’s questions, so ridiculous. The brutish fae wanted to cackle in response, but made do with an unfriendly smile, “You wave me off and then proceed to beg a favor of me? I shall tell you what, brute, I am an honest wolf. I’ll consider telling you what you want to know if you ask the question in a manner that tells me why you want the information. You don’t want our banter… and I don’t want your games. Either spit it out, or I’m continuing my patrol” She paused, lifting a paw to begin stepping around him, “I’ve had enough of watching our Elite murmur to himself instead of being productive, and now you want me to keep something from Desmond. If I don’t see a valid reason why I should, I will not make any promises.” It wasn’t that Fel was not a trustworthy wolf. She was capable of keeping secrets of generations, including the newfound weaknesses of Helidos. So long as she didn’t find undeniable reasons to implement her knowledge, the secret was safe. The problem was his behaviour. If he could not show respect for her, not as a beta but as any ranking wolf of Agavos, why the hell should she grant his panicked request for secrecy from one of her closest friends and alpha… She snorted, the smile melting away as she stepped around him in a slow amble. If she was the only wolf who knew the answers besides Desmond, he didn’t have any other options.

The snap of the jaws that went after his swaying tail, was a warning he could not mistake. The female was one who demanded respect, a veteran of the two original packs in this land but now found a home in the third. And for he, a previous warrior of Erenyx and now the Elite male of Agavos, to wave off his superior and elder was out of line. However, at the moment the male couldn't care less about what she wanted him to do in terms of treating her. All that mattered to him was to figure out if the two pups were his own, and the need to know was driving him down. He'd carried Xymesina down here himself, felt the strong need to protect her. And even as he did that he had kept a watchful eye on Ragnaar too. But at the pack meeting, when he'd spoken, the look in the young female's eyes directed towards him, only filled him with hurt. Every sign was pointing in the direction of yes, but there were also too many gaps to fill. The pups wouldn't just willingly give away who their mother was, he knew that. But he couldn't just flat out ask them if Braelyn was, in fact, the she-wolf that birthed them. The situation needed to be handled delicately with the pups, but he'd bend backwards to make sure they knew the truth if it was so.

As the thought came to him, and he sprung to his feet, words jumbled out of his mouth in a frenzy that he couldn't form one reasonable sentence. This wolf was his key to the information, he just had to convince her to give it to him. But the words fell out wrong, and were offensive to her. Asking her to promise to keep it from the Alpha? Stupid. Should have requested she would after. Dismissing her, then calling her back? Rude and bothersome. Every word made sense about what she said, but then to accuse him of sitting around all day being useless... His golden eyes narrowed and he bit back a growl. He waited for her to finish before he would reply. The female demanded so much from him in terms of respect and how he should live his own life slaving away to an Alpha who seemed to do barely as much as his lower ranks did, that she seemed to have forgotten how it works. She was a noble wolf, but to have the pride to take high praise but not return it to even the wolves she could care less about was a downfall.

You're absolutely right. My actions were dumb and given little thought. However, the one time I am here, lost amid my minds turmoil of thought of something I cannot shake off, I am to be accused of sitting on my lower ranked ass? You never see me simply just staying here, I am moving constantly running the borders day and night because my mind keeps me up at night until I drive myself to exhaustion. Is it so much to ask that I can take an afternoon off to try and clear things out? Well excuse me, superior, for being such a lazy hare who can't run around to amuse the wolf of greater power. I apologize for my brashness to you, and for asking for a promise to keep something from an Alpha you are so loyal to. Both were immature things, but your help and information would be greatly appreciated by both me and another who it might apply. But I only ask of such a thing with the best of intention, and afterwards it will be you who decides if it is worthy of Desmond's attention." He paused for a moment, calming down his feelings for the urgency of the matter. He sighed and looked around, stepping forward to stand closer so his voice could be lowered and not heard by nearby wolves, but he refused to look at the large female. "It's about Xymesina and Ragnaar. I need to know who their mother is. A year ago, in the spring, I'd met a she-wolf from Erenyx. We'd met quite a few times by chance during the night. And as stupid, selfish, and cliché as it might sound, I fell for her. She'd mated with Teren, but planned on admitting her returned feelings to me before hand. She mated with him for cover so that we could have children. I told her then, because I knew of the dangers they might face in Erenyx, that should there be a time where I need to take them over, I would. I know not if she had sent them on the pup mission. But I've felt a strange urge to protect the two pups ever since I first saw them. Xymesina more so than Ragnaar, however. If you know who their mother is, then you may know exactly who I am talking about. I can't tell the children until I know for sure, and by the way Xymesina looks at me I can tell she won't believe me unless I have proof. It's killing me, not to know. My loyalty lies with Agavos, not the pack of my lover. I don't like keeping things from Desmond, but I fear what he might do to them should he find out. I care little what happens to me, as long as my pups, if they are even my own. That is why I asked you to do such a thing. He looked back to her now, feeling embarrassed and slightly ashamed but he kept his face as that of neutral. Preparing himself for whatever comment or insult she might make.

Connecting the Dots [Fel] Empty

Fel allowed his words to ring into her ears while she continued to walk around to pass him, only stopping at the apologetic part. She did not care if her exaggeration for emphasis hurt his feelings or fueled his rage, nor was she angered by his idiocy. The problem was simply a matter of conduct. Her ear flickered back to him in acknowledgement but she did not turn around, waiting instead for him to come to her. Wolves with questions need to move around, but wolves with answers stay still. The wolf with the answer would see what these alleged ‘best intentions’ were.

The brute did come closer to her ear, murmuring his secrets only for her to hear. The bigger beast remained silent and still, looking ahead and not visibly paying any attention until he was done. After a long minute of quiet thought, she finally stepped around to face him and make this confrontation uncomfortable. Fel walked up to him and left him with no personal space, craning her neck to rumble into his ear, “I arranged the pups to be taken from Juno, but Braelyn was her escort. She agreed that she would send pups as well, and those are the sole two wolves of Erenyx who know where these brats are. I only know that Juno sent one, while Braelyn sent two. Petra is Juno’s, from what I have gathered. But know, since you have put me in such a precarious position, that if I do agree to keep this from the Alpha, I will give you one warning: If anyone ever finds out that I know that you could not keep your pathetic shaft in your sheath, I will bury you, your mate, and your spawn. I am not to be used as your evidence, nor am I to be involved in this any more than what I have told you.” Fel stared into his orbs in a manner that ensured her words were a promise, not a threat. It was nothing personal against him. It was simply a matter of protecting herself. She snorted and continued calmly, “If I were you, I would not tell your pups. The fae is brash, and the male is violent. I do not trust them to keep your secret, and if Braelyn mated with Teren, I do not trust that the male is even your kin. But in any case, they shall not know that I am aware of your feeble emotions or instinct, or whatever it is that you want to call this ‘love.’” Fel stepped back with a yawn, growing more disappointed with Desoto than ever before but refusing to let it cloud her judgment. She made no promises, and she would simply think on letting this slide by Desmond. He, of all males, could not punish him as much since he had done the same. Brutes. They are all so pathetic. “A brute and a fae do not fall in love: love is simply a falsehood driven by hormones to ensure the presence of a new generation and therefore a survival of our species. It is an instinct, but also a weakness. But what disgusts me is not that you are weak, but that our Elite, in the event of a war, would think twice about attacking if the invader was a specific female. That you would put your own pack’s security below your instinct to breed.”

She raised her tail and let it thrash in disgust. He would likely try to convince her that she was wrong: that their love was somehow real, that he was indeed loyal to the pack and would fight her if need be, or something else of the like. It didn’t matter what it was, for Fel had finished listening to this nonsense. Her opinion of him was set until action spoke in favor of a change, and she needed to mull over this information and think about what to do. If she decided to keep the secret, provided that Desoto did care for the safety of his children, her position was safe. But it was also wrong to keep it hidden from Desmond, and she had every motive to tell him whilst there was little motive to keep it hidden. “I have to think about what path I shall take with this... Whatever is best for the pack. But you have your end of the deal.” She nodded towards the healer’s den, “Crow isn’t there now, but you should see him about your insomnia. We can’t have our higher ranks losing sleep.”
