In The Wake Of Promise. [Border Acceptance!] Empty

It was mere convenience that he had not been required to travel alone for an extensive period of time. The recent occurrence at his birth pack still freshly lingered in his mind, though he was not bothered with what accusations had so wrongfully landed him on his own in the first place. He was not meant to be there, nor was he meant to be their Alpha. Surely, in due time, he would have departed regardless of the circumstance. It with this thought, precisely, that fueled his limbs – shaded a most brilliant gold of dark, charming vibrancy with creamy undertones – to continue his forwardly motioning towards the borders of the pack having recently intoxicated his nasal cavities. The aroma was powerful, having paralyzed his senses and lured him closer like a fish on a hook. Rarely was he bothered with such mindless curiousity, though he could not deny the temptation that accompanied his minor flecks of skepticism. He had not encountered a pack outside of the one previously referred to as his own, and such intrigued him to a reasonable extent. He could not help but wonder in tedious silence as to whether or not he would wish to reside with the pack, newly established in a close proximity, upon receiving an audience from one of its faithful members and learning of the specific personalities that were matched to its carnivorous servers. He, in particular, was of an ominous collection of attributes. His traits were often fitted to whomever currently held his attention, though it was mere pity that he was unable to rid of his mechanical-like ways. He seemingly came across as unfeeling, his exterior never graced with pure emotion that could be recognized with patent ease.

Perhaps it was not such a bad thing. If there was nothing to see, and nothing to grasp a hold of someone's attention, then thoughts of him could be pushed aside and he could continue onward absent of general questioning. Sometimes it was better to blend into the shadows, even when his birth right claimed him destined for a higher purpose.

Front limbs abruptly locked, a pale yellow stare cast upon the singular line that separated him from his pack. He eyed the border cautiously, a sharp, critical examination familiarizing with him every aspect of his surroundings before the midst of his focus was directed deeper into the tangles of foliage upon the pack's half of the territory. A hot breath of air slipped free from the tip of his tawny muzzle, muscles shifting beneath a thick coat of fur as his stance rotated, neck inclining to its outer-most height so that a melodious voice of summon could be graced upon the still air. The song was lacking sentimentality to a degree as severe as he, the male returning to his original positioning and allowing an uncannily sharp gaze to continuously survey the landscape in fleeting search of pigmentation that did not belong amongst the otherwise ethereal background. He could be patient, such revealed with the relaxing of his muscles, the large carnivore holding a neutral stance as he idly remained glued to his spot upon his side of the border. He would likely not move, not even as much as the flinching of an ear, until the presence of a fellow wolf specimen could be befallen upon his sights.

Maybe it was the simple pounding of the hooves against the ground, or maybe it was the heavy thudding of the animal’s heart as it ran for its life. Many would say it was the lusting of the blood that rushed through the doe’s veins. Either way the fae had a mindless drive to chase and kill this prey, to tear it apart once it was down. With every bound the deer was getting slower and clumsier though it was still too fast for her. With each stride the doe was getting farther and farther away and it was a fight of determination. If Nyx was a fool, she would’ve kept chasing the deer and hoped that it would slow. Instead the elite veered to the left and herded it into territory too dangerous for such nimble ankles or her prey. The doe did as was planned but didn’t realize that it would meet such deadly fate so soon. Nyx had learned her pack’s territory well and was moving to the area where hidden rocks and potholes were most dangerous. Sure enough the deer took one misstep that it hadn’t seen and fell. The dainty ankle snapped beneath such pressure and weight of its own body and made the deer give out a loud moan of pain. Nyx, on the other hand, had no problem and didn't slow her stride as she went to her fallen prey, her muscles working in sync to carry her over the ground. The wolf was on it in seconds, tearing through flesh and scraping through bone as its prey bled out on the ground. The sweet, metallic smell of the crimson liquid made her stomach growl and crave the meat such a carcass provided. Such scents made it difficult to move on from tearing the prey to shreds and eating what remained. Instead, she cut herself off and ignored such things. Its neck was clamped in her jaws as Nyx began to drag it away from the sight of its death. This wasn’t food for her, but food for her pack. The elite worked her way to the kill pile and took a piece of smaller prey to eat herself. It wasn't nearly as fresh as what she wanted, but it would settle to not satisfy her.

She ate quick, not sparing time to savor her meal but instead focusing on what needed to be done. Throwing her mind, body, and soul into doing what she knew would benefit her pack. Not that most members appreciated any of it, the ungrateful and greedy whelps that they were. She'd met plenty of them before, and they all thought themselves as tough for earning entrance into the lands of their Alpha. These thoughts only angered her and caused her to tear further into the flesh of the creature she was eating. She was waiting for someone to challenge her, to prove that they weren't all future food for the crows one day. That had yet to happen, but such disappointment was ignored as she continued her meal. Maybe after a break would be in order, a chance for the fae to sleep and rejuvenate the energy she had lost with such a lack of sleep. But, as typically as could be, such thoughts were distracted by the howl that echoed in her ears and irritated her.

The fae made her way to the borders but took her time. Anyone worth respecting even in the slightest would wait and not still respect her position when she strolled to the borderlines. Nyx finally made it and curled her tail in dominance. Hopefully this wolf wasn’t so foolish as to think they were the dominant one in the situation. Nyx’s lips peeled back and she snarled at the male. “Who are you and why are you on my pack’s border?”

Patience was upon his side. Not a single muscle shifted beneath a thickly furred frame, pale eyes peering into the pack's territories, void of all sentimentality. It was as if his eyes were two separate sheets of glass, reflecting the image of those that met his icy stare but otherwise seeming fake, if not mechanical. A sharp swerve of reddened ears was the aftermath of parting foliage, golden irises zeroing in upon the angelically hued body of the female. She smelled of the pack, and he was able to decipher her ranking from the way her tail arched over her back, placed there as if such was natural and it belonged. It was not her dominance that captured his attention, however, but the pair of mismatched eyes place delicately upon the center of her facial structure. He was intrigued by their rarity, analyzing the ominous captivation of their depths as he lowered his body in submission, ears pinning against his skull, the underside of his jaw placed atop of his tucked forepaws. Submission was foreign to the male, though it did not make the idea of it any more difficult to process. He was not bothered by the display she had demanded of him, unable to genuinely concern himself with what pride he seemingly lacked for submitting so quickly to a pack wolf. It was the ordinary custom, and he chose not to question it. She was authoritative, and he was not. It'd be foolish of him to attempt to establish dominance when it was so far from being proper of him, and he accepted this factor with undeniable ease.

“My name is Irrationality,” the male's tone was as unfeeling as the arrangement of his features, blankly lit eyes at long last fluttering to the terrain directly in front of his paws, ensuring that not a muscle of his body so much as even flinch while she continued to desire submission from him. He would remain where he was for an eternity if it was deemed necessary, and not a single complaint would be heard. His body was like that of a statue: molded to fit the necessity, but otherwise remaining in what could seem a state of paralysis. The entirety of his being spoke of no emotion – nothing but a robotic carnivore trapped inside the body of a creature meant to feel. He was lifeless, yet continued breathing, such a contradiction but a fitted description nonetheless. “I have arrived at your borders with the intent of joining your pack, if you will have me.” His eyes did not waver towards her own, keenly fixated upon what it was that lay sprawled directly in his line of vision, being nothing but the grass beneath the she-wolf's paws. He waited in patent silence for her response, lingering on every second that the quiet continued to stretch forth. He was a patient wolf, such impossible to overlook. The inability to feel granted him with an exceptional quality of endurance, able to withstand a silence that consumed like thickening fog with far more ease than the majority. He would not be granted such easy access into this she-wolf's lands, and he had expected nothing less from the very beginning, such proving the predictability of this situation. An inaudible sigh slipped free from his lethal weapon in the form of hot air, the entirety of his thoroughly muscled frame seemingly trapped in a frozen state save for the occasional blink of ghostly pale eyes.

((Sorry it’s short, just trying to get to the point and get you accepted.))

Irrationality, an odd name though she didn’t care. The emotionlessness of the brute only made her job easier, and decision of rank was already locked within her mind. That is, if the brute could prove to her that he was worthy. Growing irritation made her snarl out her words. “Alright, whelp. Name your skills. What could you possibly bring to this pack that others have not?” she asked and kept her ears pinned. Nyx wasn’t going to demand he grovel at her feet like she had before with others. Though the option was tempting, she was already losing patience and just wanted to go back to what she had to do. She had only accepted one other male into the borders, they all seemed alike to her. Detached, seemingly emotionless until someone tried to make them reveal their true selves. The beta had no interest in any of that, she was already bored of his presence. She entertained herself as she waited by smelling along the border nearest to her and making sure it was secure.

It seemed that she was easy to anger, irritation having managed to accustom amidst her facial features in a proportional array of hostility as if the igniting gas was air itself. Her words pierced pinned back ears, folded neatly against his skull, bothered to an extent by her usage of the word whelp, but he knew better would come if he remained completely still, simply allowing her insults to enter through one ear and, with great ease, pass out the other. He attempted to formulate his speech in a timely fashion, a calculative mind grasping upon what skills he possessed that he believed would be of the greatest use to this she-wolf and the pack in which she resided. He had, frankly, cared not for the rushed sting that accompanied her tone like a cobra's venom. Perhaps she was in a hurry, but it was failing to work the male up. He did, for the sake of his acceptance, organize a thoughtful response for the authoritative she-wolf as quickly as was possible. He wanted her to see him as a valuable asset, as more than the mere whelp she had addressed him as. He would never consider himself, or dare to refer to himself under the influence of such a label. He was Irrationality, though he knew it was, as of now, out of his paws to have himself being referred to by the identification he had extended forth upon request.

“I can be sharp, fierce and direct when it is required, yet I can also be calm and assertive. My loyalties would be unquestionable, but mainly my loyalties to the protection of this pack. I am graced with a reasonable mind, able to make informative and quick decisions on the behalf of the pack's capability to excel. I will not attempt to pass my physical aptness as being that of ultimate supremacy, though I am confident in my orientation of combat to an extent that I consider it valuable to my own personal doings, and to the efficient defense of your pack should I be accepted.” Pale irises remained glued to the ground, not entirely concerned with sparing a glance into the she-wolf's mismatched eyes and seeing if his speech had been enough to satisfy. It was some of his better qualities, or frankly, some of which he could muster under the pressure of on-the-spot questioning. If it was not enough to please this she-wolf, or seem worthy to the rankings of her pack (he could only wonder absently if they all sported a similar temperamental streak) then he would move forth with not a complaint to be heard. Perhaps this was not his home, and if proved so, he would continue to seek it. If not, however, then he would serve diligently regardless of the reputation that clung to whom he was offering to support. It did not matter to him whether he was known for working under the influence of bad or good, because factually, the reputation of the pack was only able to infer a select portion of his being. There would be more to his lifespan, more to him than this pack – he would simply grow and nourish from it in a way that he could only hope would be beneficial, and he would do so with obedience.

Nyx gave him a dull, hostile look as her lip curled to reveal the vicious daggers her mouth held. Though her body position was threatening, her mind was thinking. The beta remained as alert as timid fox, should the newcomer attack. She would be quick to act and most likely chase him away from the borders. His attitude was acceptable, surely her Alpha would approve the rank of a warrior. If he proved to be one that would slack in his duties, he could always be beaten and ranked lower. Though it seemed as if he had an odd staring-at-the-ground problem, she wasn’t about to question it. She didn’t care about this whelp, he was just another creature to provide for her Alpha’s pack. A mere pawn of no major significance. He seemed of no emotion, and it was a relief. She kept her stance dominant and eyed him over, listening to his words carefully for any fault in them. His so called ‘sharpness’ would be foreseen when he began his duties. The beta wouldn’t make it too simple for him, as she did with all the other members. Even the slightest of mistakes and she would be quick to snap on him, continuing each time an error was made until they all were strong warriors fit for her pack. If they could not be in such a way, she would have to mold them to be so. This brute was no exception, for she would do the same to him.

“We’ll see how much to provide for the pack when you begin your duties. I’m giving you the rank of warrior, it is not an invitation to do any less than the rest. Like everyone else, I will be quick to snap you back into shape if you forget your place in this pack. I’m sure you already know what a warrior’s duties are, so I will not waste my breath explaining them to you. Find your own way to the clearing, brute. I have better things to do than hold your paw and lead you around like a pup.” There would be no special welcome for him, as there never was for anyone. This would be his first test of many, just to see if his loyalties were to be as true as he said them to be. If he proved to be a worthy warrior, then so be it. Nyx had grown irritatedly bored with him, so she did not stay and wait for him to leave. Instead, the beta turned and moved off into the forest silently. More hunting and border marking was to be done.
