PostSubject: We're All Mad. [Border Acceptance] We're All Mad. [Border Acceptance] Icon_minitimeFebruary 23rd 2014, 19:02

Long ago, Cheshire had poisoned his father, left his mother amidst the ruins, and fled before its walls could crumble down with a monarchy’s lack thereof. Supposedly, he had destroyed a kingdom, a vast empire, all because he had killed the Alpha via deadly berries and escaped, leaving his killer a mystery unsolved. Nobody had come for him yet. His throat still felt as though it was intact. Therefore he felt that it was safe to assume that his mother had covered for him. She cared about him so much. It was a shame, really, that such a powerful love had been wasted. She didn’t realize that her little angel had suddenly become mad. It probably would have been in the best interest of the world had she organized a party to track him down and slaughter him - maybe find a way to sneak some berries into his meal so that he could face a death much like his father’s. He wouldn’t have been missed. He wouldn’t have had the chance to make a name for himself, or at least, a name under his new name. He was no longer Everan. He liked to think that the poor wolf died with his father, or maybe even starved to the point of his demise when things got hectic and uncontrollable throughout the pack while they tried to discover their next King. . . how unfortunate that the Heir had vanished into the night.  Yes, option two sounded much more appealing. That way, Everan would have at least properly suffered. What was the point of death if it was quick and painless?

He knew exactly where he was going. The closer that he had neared to the Erenyx borders, the more abundant that the rumours had become. He had heard enough of the demonic sovereign to have piqued his interest and slightly altered his path. He wondered, sometimes when the quiet got too consuming during his lonesome travels, whether or not he’d be accepted for who he was amongst an already present and lingering evil. It didn’t necessarily matter. He didn’t intend to enlighten any of the Erenyx residents that there was more than what meets the eye. It wasn’t like it was obvious, so who would it possibly affect? He was nothing more than one’s average Healer, if not slightly above average by his own standards. He had no intention of offering himself in the form of a Warrior - if that was all that they desired from those that neared their borders, then he would happily be on his way. His battle prowess was not meant to be the primary focus of their attention - what was the fun of them immediately knowing that he was a fighter? What would be the big surprise if not the catastrophic downfall of the victim that dare strike a Healer? It’d probably remain a mystery forever. Nobody in their right mind would mess with a Healer, after all. The fun thing about being able to heal was that, more often than not, lives were put into your capable paws. It’d be most unpleasant if an enemy, call them what you will, was in dire need of your miracle after so many days of taunting and torture. Accidentally messing up their treatment would be truly calamitous. . . for them.

He paused along the outskirts of the pack’s border, eying his surroundings thoughtfully, having nothing but time in the world to observe, analyze, and scrutinize down to the very last detail. He wanted to have a feeling for their territories, or at least what of it he could see. He assumed that their kingdom was far more vast, and far more regal than what his sight permitted. But there was only one way to find out - he had every intention of passing their most enjoyable test. Inclining his neck, the bluish-gray and black male sounded his thunderous howl for all to hear, summoning to him any male and/or female of power that wished to meet with him and discuss the likelihood of entry. Slowly, the song came to a timely stop, the air returning to its former peace and quiet. Naturally, he found himself lowering his head a touch, his limbs aiding in minimizing his height, as to not pose a threat to the dominant wolf he assumed would be upon him. His size was nothing short of - well that was precisely the case: he was not short. Average sized, certainly, though he still liked to think of himself as tall when compared to that of the ordinary female. How intrigued would his company be to set their sights upon such a prosperous Warrior, exterior-wise, only to find that he fancied a lifestyle far more elegant?

The thirst for blood was powered by the need to kill. The wolf did not wish to take of the stagnant carcasses which had been resting one atop the other from the hunters' rewards. Their ability to hunt and kill was perfect, doing their jobs as was asked of them and doing it with precision. But today would not be about eating what was given to him. He would need to take it for himself, to once again feel the life of his victim slipping away between his clenched jaws. Steele moved about the lands, the ones he claimed with his scent, with his dominance. The Alpha moved with the forest, void of all thoughts or ideas. All he wanted was to be free of the wondering mind within his skull. His life-less colored eyes stared upon the trees and forest floor. His nose sniffed from side to side, wafting in the scents of all those around him. Deer had been in this area previously, but were no longer here. Another smell crossed his path, forcing the towering brute to pause in his steps. Closing his eyes, his ears scanned from side to side, catching the sounds of the bushes being rustled within one another. He slowly lowered his body to the ground, close but only lingering above it. Moving slowly, his eyes opened and his target came into view. A fat fluffy rabbit was feeding from a small tuft of grass. The tiny creature was unaware of the hunter which prowled beneath the overgrowth. Large ears flicked every now and then, but it was still very unaware.

Steele moved gently, careful not to wake the sleeping leaves upon the floor. The wind was crisp and cool, allowing his scent to move away from the area. When he was finally a few short feet from the morsel, his tongue lapped across his lips, and over his snout. He held back the fiery aggression, the drive to kill quelling in the dark. Steele pushed on his hind legs, forcing his weight to shift and quickly lunging from his position. Like a rocket he launched himself towards the other. Front feet planted on both sides of the critter, his jaws opening and wrapping around the neck of the innocent creature. Teeth pressed through the cover of fur, touching the flesh beneath. His tongue rasped over the creature, licking the slight hint of blood which now drenched the puncture wounds around the neck. Biting down harder than before, he heard the snap and the fighting came to a stop. Pleased by his actions, by the rush of taking a life, he dropped the kill to the floor. He licked morsel, and soon began ripping the flesh and fur from the body. When he was planning to feast on his meal, he heard the call of another wolf. It was close to his position, outside the border, and from the sound, male. Now the question was, what was he going to do with the food, and the guest? Snatching it up in his jaws, he lifted it from the ground and moved towards the sound of the call. The rabbit hung in his mouth, he made his way towards the other.

As he approached, he presented himself to the other immediately. What would be the reason to wait? As he stood there, he looked over the wolf before him. A strange array of colors wrapped themselves around his form. It was almost a peppered color, but also hints of brown. But the thing which captivated the Alpha the most, the green eyes. Immediately they reminded him of another wolf he once cared for deeply. The she-wolf had stripped the love from his heart, filled the void with darkness, and took the only wolves who truly mattered with her ashen paws. His own blood, his own young. The remaining one would stay faithful to his father until the end of his days. But as he stared into the eyes of the other, into the wolf who resembled his love lost and gone, he dropped his prey. He held back the snarl, the growl which wished to float among their ears, finding shelter within the wide canals. Pulling it back in, he looked over the other, "state your name and your business here."

[I wish to apologize for the long wait. I hope this is sufficient.]

Ah, was that the beautiful scent of fresh blood that wafted upon the wind? It was beautiful, it was tantalizing, and it filled his muscular body with a reviving sense of aliveness. His ears perked, eager, prepared, as the greenery parted in a forceful line to grant passage to the Devil himself. In his jaws hung the body of a limp rabbit, its carcass tempting - he was in no way starving, and thus pulled his gaze away with ease - with the promise of a healthy pack that thrived in their environment, plump with the consistent supply of food. There was a certain degree of intrigue alight in the charming character’s playful gaze, searching the Alpha’s expression when his jaws hung agape, the rabbit gathered at his paws where it had newly been dropped, as though there would a sign upon the surface that indicated would had been behind what bordered shock. The black furred Devil looked at him like he was somebody from his past, somebody that had been involved in his lifespan - what interesting and riveting events occurred throughout the journey of this empty-eyed monstrosity! - and he could not wait until he could be truly involved. He’d, undoubtedly, be quick to differentiate himself from whoever it was that he had managed to resemble. He wasn’t necessarily the type that blended into the crowd. He was a different kind of uncertainty, and it’d be so pleasant and exciting to be unleashed upon the violent kingdom that was Erenyx.

With a creepily defined smile that stretched from corner-to-corner of his powerful mouth, the brawny male lowered himself into a position of proper submission as to not offend his higher-up. He knew better than to test his boundaries with this one; it’d be in his best interest to play it safe. Regardless, he could not help but wreak of what of him was infectiously delightful. He was a mad individual; a male of his own tendencies, no matter how unusual a tendency it was to be. His bright eyes, turquoise in hue, flashed in a beloved portrayal of inner mischief and trickery, yet somehow guarded by refreshing tinges of innocence that made it all the more believable that he was trustworthy. To an extent, he was trustworthy, and he’d make for a grand addition to this Alpha’s ranks. He had no plans of quarrelling with any of Erenyx’s wolves, nor did he have any plans of attempting to stir some trouble upon arrival, and that was pretty good news when he was the topic of conversation. He simply wished to heal, to be free to heal, and to heal as he saw fit. He was cunning, and to a certain point one to be considered insane and unworthy of holding one’s life in his paws. He had nothing against throwing a few of the deadlier berries into a wolf’s remedy, as was seen in the episode with his father, but nonetheless he was talented and talent was highly scoped for in the field that he sought. He could bring a vast knowledge of herbal treatment into Erenyx’s realm, and he would serve them diligently with the proper permission. There was a very minimal price to pay: that being the fact that they’d house a criminalistic Healer. But, alas, was that not beneath the title of Erenyx? He had heard rumours of this wolf standing before him, of his greed and of his sadistic glory, and thus Cheshire had grown expectant that he’d be more than thrilled to have a handful of willing-to-be violent servants under his paw.

“As you wish, my Alpha.” Dipping his bluish-gray and black head even closer to the ground than once was, his smile still apparent, he cast two curious eyes at an upward slant. “My name is Cheshire, and my business involves the pleasantry of all things remedial, perhaps the offering of such services to you, sovereign, and your pack if you’d wish to have me.” He would not allow himself to so freely roam over the features of his superior, analyzing him and learning more about him, and probably in the process of it earning himself a hard bite. He wasn’t so peculiar at heart as to not understand the customs of a pack. Frankly, his face was molded into an array of indifference and admirable intelligence at all times, and thus he posed a force to be reckoned with in the masterful arts of circle-talking. He was an individualistic creature, and he liked to follow his own rules under the mask of following the rules of hierarchy.

The wold was quick to show the submission to his master. The Alpha was quick to approve of such a form, even moving lower than he already was to please the Alpha even more. It was always a good sign to see a wolf submit to its Alpha before approaching even a sliver of a chance to be in the pack. This wolf was brave, it seemed. His silver eyes rolled over the other, and more images of Esmeralda flashed before him, in his mind. He could hear her voice when the other spoke initially and it freaked him out. They were not the complete same, but those eyes, those green hues of perfection stared back at him. Steele did not like when a wolf looked into his eyes, but this time was different. He did not mind it. Perhaps it was the comfort in knowing that he sued to seek comfort in those comparable eyes. He found a time of relaxation and love. Perhaps one day he would find it again. But for now, he had to answer to the stranger. "As it appears we are in need of a healer, of the male genus. We have two healers already, both female, but it does not hurt to have a male in there, making sure they do all they are supposed to. Also, how did you know I was the Alpha of these lands, if I never spoke my name or title to you?" He tilted his head slightly to the side, curious to how he could even know this of Steele. He looked over the other once more, pausing to find the perfect words. "But you are correct, I am Alpha Steele of Erenyx. You have found the borders and my attention.. If you wish to join my pack, you shall have to swear your life to me, to my pack, and the other members of the pack. In the event of a full on war, I will require your assistance. You must swear that you will sacrifice your life for the good of the pack, if need be.."

Was there the hints of something strange in the cold, prying eyes of his to-be Master? He looked to him briefly with the greatest intrigue, smile deepening, growing increasingly ominous, before casting his sights away as to not prolong an unsubmissive act. This was not the time for him to weave his masterful words and cross his boundaries - what a horrendous first impression he would make! It appeared as though, to some unique extent, he had already earned himself an individualistic placement within the demonic soul of regality, unknown to him that it was based entirely off of the feelings he once held for a former lover. Undoubtedly, the creature of trickery that resided in the Healer’s heart would have taken immense pleasure in possessing such an advantage, but he knew better than to give his lesser appealing qualities free roam. With a sparkle in his beautiful eyes, bluish-gray-and-black ears twisted forwards in a representation of his utmost attention being fixated upon his higher-up in this, a time when he was meant to answer a question. In adoration of these precious moments when he had the influence over a topic’s whereabouts, he poised himself in a manner of complete and total excellence of initiative as best as he could while still maintaining his submission, daring to angle his head in such a way that he could meet his Alpha’s chilling eyes - he, of course, deserved the ability to scan Cheshire’s unlimited features (even the supposed “gateway to one’s inner emotions”) to ensure himself that dishonesty was not gripping the loner’s tongue. “Through a means of sharp eyes and ears, my Alpha.” The fire in his eyes crackled, tainted smile perpetual as he pressed on. “To say the least, I have been long enough throughout these lands of Erenyx and Helidos to have a rather finely sculpted understanding of the packs’ rivalry, and who happens to wear the crowns.” He never entered a situation without the greatest potential that he could reach. Oblivion was not his forte, and he had every intention of establishing to his sovereign that he was not some talentless, daft creature that didn’t even know what he was getting himself into by offering his loyalties. In fact, he already knew his Alpha quite well, perhaps creepily so, and regardless he sought to offer his obedience to the demonic of the two.

With his curiousity hopefully soothed, there was now a pledge that remained in wait of Cheshire’s addressal. He was required to swear his entire life to this pack, to its members, and above all else, to its Alpha. He mulled the idea of it over in his mind, toying with its meaning, and all the while grinning at the paws of his superior as he once again averted his greenish-blue eyes astray from Steele’s face. When it seemed as though the silence would prove disloyal of him, his powerful jaw parted, trusting of the words that he had formulated in response. “I swear to you my remedial talents, thorough as they may be, for it would be of the greatest honour to ensure the prolonged advantage of your pack in times of war - I will serve you to my end, sovereign.” To much of the Healer’s distaste, his smile forcibly faded, doing so to ensure the seriousness of his words dawned into the mind of his Alpha; but it was quick to return, nonetheless. He had made his promises, claimed his allegiance, and now it was up to the pack’s leader to do with it as he pleased. It was a pity, rather much so, that a promise ushered from his woeful lips could not be fully accounted for. Of course, Cheshire was true to his pledge, or as true as he could be. He wished to offer his services so that another part of this great, mysterious world could make use of his talents, not to be wrongfully wasted. It was all a matter of how trustable the ominous-hearted Healer was. Only a fool would be devoted to the idea that he would save their life, yet he had nothing if not the power to save foolish lives.

No matter what his senses told him, his sight, his nose, his ears, he could not take his eyes off the other. He was not his deserted mate. Steele knew in his heart that he was not. But why could he not keep looking? That was the real question. Esmeralda was not coming back to him. In the Spring he would have to choose between a fae he had loved for a long time prior to Katyusha's arrival, and the beautiful huntress herself. Both of the females embodied personalities he could not shake his mind from. Nyx had been his very first apprentice, taking on his training and accepting the changes in her own personality. She was shaped and molded into something Steele could love. Was it on purpose, or by a mere chance at fate? He was uncertain. Katyusha may one day be his apprentice, but that was still unsure as well. Snapping his mind from the thoughts of the faes, he stared at the male. "Cheshire, from this moment, you shall be known as Healer Cheshire. If you require any aid in your chosen field, please speak with Lead Healer Aziza or Healer Cliche. Either of them will be more than happy to assist you. If you ever require my assistance, then you can be sure to come and find me. For now, I am going to retire to my den. I have much to think about. Welcome home." With his words leaving his maw, his silver hues turned from the other, allowing his body to turn completely around. He walked back to the pack clearing, thinking of what he had wondered the whole time.
