PostSubject: At the Edge of the Void [Open] At the Edge of the Void [Open] Icon_minitimeApril 26th 2014, 16:40

She was a seething pit of magma, boiling and sloshing against the edges of its bowl. She threatened to spill over with every torturous step, bubbles of anger and fury slide over the edges, spilling into a rage. No ones would be able to stop her, no one would attempt to when they saw the murderous glare in her eyes. That single bit of crimson madness which would glaze over her normally brown eyes. She would no longer be Cassiopeia, she was a demon, Azazel, Abaddon, Lucifer, wrath burning through her veins. A wendigo, sucker of blood and diminisher of life, eating the flesh of those who had cast her into this fiery pit. She was in a frenzy of pure lunacy, driven completely mad by the devil which haunted the crypts of her soul. She snarled, foam practically flying from her mouth, her fearsome canines digging into her own charcoal lips. Blood dripped down to her claws which were dug deep into the sandy earth, mania causing her to take out her absolute evil upon the earth which stood between her and Hell. Her ear's were as twisted as they could be, bound to her head as to not release more blood if they were to be torn off. She was at battle, a writhing red dragon hissing and grasping at whatever it could reach behind its suit of white armor. Her innocent guise, a medium cream wolf with chocolate eyes, did not fit well to the evil within. She tore at it, wrenching with the strength of rage, trying to rip herself from the ethereal mask which she had been born into the world with. She was an absolute demon, entity of pure evil, wrath and allure. A witch, a goddess, a queen, whatever she twisted herself into, but that was not her true form. She thought her real self to be lost, not hidden or simply lurking about in the shadows, but gone for good. How could she survive, living her life under the ruse of stable hysteria? Constantly changing herself, a shapeshifter, she wasn't a wolf, she was a monster, a monster of many different forms. What she was doing was not living, she had not truly lived in quite a time. She was chasing away her own demons, shooing them off with the promise that she would morph forms again. Entrusting them with her hopes and her absolute fears, she had made a deal with the devil. Her part of the bargain was her sanity, everything she held near and dear, and if that was not enough, her heart. Facing off with that crimson beast, shadows misting him to her eyes, the only thing she could truly see were those infinite crimson eyes. He held her beating, bloody heart in his claws, and with her watching, sunk daggers into it until it pumped no more. Then, with a crevice in her chest and delirium in her mind, he took up residence, driving her further into the caves of black nothingness which was insanity. He pulled her up from nothing, gave her a name and a face and told her to join a pack. Her mind was scattered and her hopes were trashed, but she obeyed, listening to the very creature which had destroyed her in the first place.

She had battled fiercely, taking her every last virtuous and momentous thought to combat the evil that raged. But the story tales weren't true, Good didn't always triumph Evil. Sometimes, in the eternal war, Evil tore the organs from Good and consumed them as Good looked on, gasping and tearful. This was a circumstance such as that, Good survived, as it always did, but not without severe pain and agony, driving it to the wish that it would just pass away into the earth. She swayed, her exhausted body experiencing the aftermath of battle. Blood dripped from her mouth, her lips swollen from where she bit into them. It also made its way to the ground from her nose, the extreme stress of mental battle obviously having taken its toll on her exterior. She tipped, the wind toppling the beast, she fell into the sand and her own blood. The universe seemed to be laughing in her face, an inordinate amount of sunshine keeping her from slipping into rest. All she could do was lay on her side and hope her body to recover on its own. The idea of a predator coming and finishing her off almost seemed like it was meant to be, fate spitting on her one last time. She closed her eyes and slipped into a sort of trance, her memories progressively changing until she believed that she had been attacked by an outer force. Possibly it was her demon in the flesh, the smokey image of him and his crimson eyes was at the ready. But also it could have been a puma, something completely explainable and logical. Either way, she didn't admit to herself that she had done this herself. She wouldn't, couldn't, accept that she was demented, a complete lunatic. Instead she lay in the summer sun, dehydration setting in, making up tales about what had happened when she visited the edge of the void.

He had pursued the scent of blood. It wafted into his nostrils without permission, though needless to say that he would’ve turned down its offering had one been made. The carnivore that trekked with skillful precision was no cannibal. He did not follow the blood’s scent because it appealed to some kind of twisted, sadistic instinct, but rather took interest in the fact that the fresh aroma mingled with that of his own kind - one of Erenyx. If the wolf happened to be injured as he suspected, then perhaps he or she was in luck to have captured the attention of a Healer. He was very professional when it came to his line of work. The difference between life and death was one that hardly affected him; and he knew better than to waste precious herbs and medicines on a life that could not be saved. He only hoped, for this wolf’s best interest, that the situation he or she faced was not life-threatening, otherwise he’d be forced to plaster on his most sympathetic smile and wish them luck on their endeavours into the next forest.

However, it seemed as though luck was not upon her side. He stepped out from the thick underbrush, his bluish-gray-and-black fur proving radiant in the amber sun. He approached immediately, failing to be phased in the least by the pool of blood that surrounded her. Perhaps, in a different setting, she would have been a beautiful sight to behold. Cheshire was the last of his kind on this very planet that would ever think to settle down, but he still appreciated a view that was easy on the eyes when he was presented with one. He flashed a toothy smile, curious as to whether or not she had enough energy left over to pay any mind to his arrival. “It would seem as though quite the conundrum has managed to sweep you off your paws.” His smile did not fade, even as he continued to gaze dispassionately down upon the helpless female. He was not one to panic when forced to handle stressful situations; a Healer of such capability was never to make the ill and/or the injured feel any more worried about their condition than was necessary. It allowed him to maintain a tone that was almost playful, if not unusually jolly given her state of loosening conscientiousness. “Worry not, for your saviour has answered your prayers. If a spider has wished upon this afternoon to bestow you with a gift, I may be able to lessen the bleeding of your more prominent wounds, which should hopefully suffice until I can get you to the safety of my den.”

The male pivoted on an eloquent heel, approaching the nearest shrubbery and searching for the cobwebs that he needed. “Ah, dearest friend!” His tone was, in fact, not meant for the ears of his nearby damsel. He spoke, charmingly, into the face of a spider in the midst of its web. He sniffed the creature with minimal caution, matching its multiple eyes as it retreated into the farthest corner of its home. “It is with regret that I strip you of your home, but I do so for the greatest of causes and thank you a million for donating to the saving of a life.” Gathering a hearty portion into his jaw, he turned once again and offered his gratitude with the flick of a tail, returning from the shrubbery and reapproaching the bleeding female. He started applying the cobweb to various wounds - she was bleeding quite severely, and though she would likely require a more vigorous remedy, it would suffice for the time being. With the most of what work he planned to accomplish atop the mountainous cliffs, he fixated her with a technical eye, his smile never once faltering from his blackened lips. “If you cannot rise, my threat is to carry you - most embarrassing for the she-wolf whom all eyes will be upon once we arrive in Erenyx territory and retreat to my den for further treatment.” He moved a touch closer, prepared to offer his shoulder should she choose to walk. He would have spoken once more, hadn’t his eyes said it all loud and clear: What will it be?

She was regaining strength by meager increments, unable to pass out, attempt to find solace in the dregs of sleep, she was forced into a conscious state, Hell. She was in pain, deep sorrowful pain of loss and longing, as if she didn't know that it had been a losing battle. If head hadn't been pounding, or her orifices still bleeding, she might have scowled. Who did she think she was trying to take on a demon, a warrior? Hardly, she had lost and now she laid in an absolutely pitiful state on the ground. Within seconds of her assessment of her situation, a sound reached her ears, that of paw steps. They weren't heavy enough to be a bear, too bad, a bear would have at least made it quick. She thought maybe the scavengers were coming for her, the vultures would soon soar circles over her, bloodying their sickening bald heads with her flesh. But it was not meant to be, for the one who emerged from the underbrush was in the shape of a wolf. A deep rumble in her chest and throat warned him to back up if he valued his life. The sound faded as she recognized the wolf's scent, he was Erenyx. Again, expressions were absent from her face, but she might have frowned in consternation trying to remember if she had met this wolf before. Coming up with nothing, she gave a much softer growl, don't overstep your bounds. She knew better then to trust the monsters of her own pack, they were all enemies as far as she was concerned. No, that was not true, there were a spare few who she could trust, or at least she trusted her ability to read them and guess their next move. That was all that really mattered, unpredictability was the true enemy to a wolf of her nature, she needed to know what was going to happen before it took place so that she might place herself as far away from danger as physically possible.

She eyed this wolf, carefully re-positioning her head every time he went just out of eye sight. She answered not his words, her silver tongue silenced by the tang of iron and dryness, her own blood soaking into her parched mouth. When he neared her, touching her self-inflicted wounds, she drew away. But it was for not because he continued anyway, probably ignoring her hate of physical contact. It hurt as he applied the spider's web to her wounds, it seemed like witchery, how could spider's web really do anything? But she knew nothing of such things and purposely kept her nose out of it, centering the pain into a little ball and dispersing it with a mere flick of her paw. When his question came, as she knew it surely would, she tucked her legs very close to herself, then rolling her stiff body onto them and attempting to stand up. She felt like a fawn, fresh from mother's womb, preparing its wobbly legs to flee from the sure to come predators. But she was no such thing because she sucked in her breath and stood, no questions, no doubts, just pure will power. She told herself she wouldn't stumble, and so, she didn't. She told herself it didn't hurt, and so, it didn't. Her mind was so well trained in this art, that she might as well have been fresh out the morning's den, ready for the day with a vitality like no other. Of course no such thing was true for her worn body and it was only when it was acting out of the mind's control did it misbehave. She began to pant, her ears low against her head in concentration. She shook, her body uncontrollably acting as if it were both freezing and boiling hot at the same time, only the latter being true. Her tongue licked her lips, the feeling of cotton not reaching her brain because it had far more things to do. "Wa... Water," She swung her head, signalling him to lead the way if he dare please. Her paws were placed in the prints he left behind, her eyes towards the ground because they could no longer stand to be blinded by such light. She would follow his every print, his swinging dark tail being her guide for when the trail got rocky.

PostSubject: Re: At the Edge of the Void [Open] At the Edge of the Void [Open] Icon_minitimeMay 2nd 2014, 20:22

The tip of a bloody nose was lulled by the rhythmic swish of a blue-black tail, accustoming to the lightness that was the creamy - no, crimson - fur of the bottom of her muzzle gently accepting the invitation to rest atop his method of guidance. Her raspy voice had uttered a breathy request, his ears forced to swivel back against his skull to properly attune to her whispered tone. Thankfully, a source of water had been passed throughout the duration of his hill-top journey. It was only a matter of reaching said source of water before exhaustion settled upon her like the angry storm cloud it was. Occasionally, he would look over his shoulders, meeting the female’s abysmal stare for sheer seconds to ensure that he had not lost her. It was important that she try and stay awake; slumber, although most tempting, would likely cost her life. However, she proved strong - stronger than he had perceived probable. It had been pure luck that she managed onto her paws as she had. Surely the ground had found a way to weave its helpless plea into her mind, requesting that she not fret, and that instead she rest a while. “Resting a while” was simply a nice way of saying that she could never leave. The amount of blood that she had lost would have devastated many, but she handled matters as though it was an everyday experience. It could have been, as far as he knew. His brain could not fathom the life that she had lived, and though the mystery of it proved unfavourable, she had earned enough of his respect through simply getting up that he would refrain from requesting such blatant insight.

It was uncertain for how long they had traveled. He had been on the verge of losing hope for her until the familiar shape of a small pond surfaced in the near distance. Newly optimistic, he led the injured female towards the pond until they both towered over top of it, making room so that she may drink as she so pleased. He watched her closely, ensuring that he’d be prepared to aid her should it prove a difficult task to simply lean forwards and lap at the water. It was unlike the Healer to be so . . . helpful. However, that was a different scenario entirely. They were not safe and secure within the confinement of his den, and they were traveling with a limited herb supply to sustain her wounds. He knew it’d prove satisfactory through the eyes of his superior, be it that he helped one of his Alpha’s Warriors reach the safety of Erenyx territory and have a successful recovery. His healing abilities would certainly not be overlooked after revealing such admirable potential. Therefore, the sincerity that was woven so precisely across his muzzle was not entirely for the she-wolf, but instead for the benefits that she would bring him in the future for simply reviving.

“I would suggest that we take a break, but it’s most urgent that we get back to my den so that I have a broader selection of remedies to offer.” His tail flicked - impatience? Maybe - as he continued to scrutinize the wounded female as though she was a prize as opposed to the living, breathing creature that she was. In complete honesty, he cared little whether or not she survived whatever situation had caused her such fatal injuries. He would do everything in his power to save her, everything in his power to mock concern, but there was always something in it for the mischievous Healer to gain. In this particular case, it had everything to do with status. Shuffling his large paws in the moist soil, he once again approached the she-wolf’s side, prepared to continue guiding her the rest of the way back to Erenyx. “If a quenched throat has permitted you the ability to speak, then I must say that I am curious to hear of what trouble you had managed to get yourself into?” Cheshire rolled his shoulders in the form of a shrug, sparing one last glance towards the bleeding Warrior before he began to move once again - time to save her life, after all, was wasting away. “If it’s embarrassing, or has anything to do with the unexplainable, then I grant you until we arrive at our destination to create a mind-blowing tale of both your bravery and ferocity.” He chuckled, the sound eerie, penetrating the cool air. There was an odd way to how the male behaved, and although it was somewhat off-putting, most could not deny that it was refreshing to acquaint themselves with such an interesting character. Of course, the Healer knew this for himself all too well. He had a tendency to be a bit selfish - he was saving lives for his own personal gain, after all.

It didn’t get much lower than that.

PostSubject: Re: At the Edge of the Void [Open] At the Edge of the Void [Open] Icon_minitimeMay 5th 2014, 19:37

The sun seemed to burn into the swaying shoulders of the fae, each step threatening to be her last as the cliffs began to look like a favorable alternative. But her iron clasp on life did not weary or waver, nor did indicate that a fall would be acceptable. But even through her mind had a single goal and every asset was bound to such, little, tired thoughts did pop up in the back of her head. Though completely ignored, they spoke of how her lifeblood was draining and soon she would be merely an empty vessel. It also gave mirages to enduring brown eyes, images which never made it back to her resolute mind.

She nearly laughed when she saw water, the fight was not yet over, the Gods had not succeeded in smothering yet another demon from the world. Her steps quickened when the reflective surface came into eye shot, only able to be seen around the black furs which consumed her vision. Stumbling, unsteady steps didn't pause at the edge of the water, instead they made a few more clumsy strides into the water where it reached up to her chest. Submerging her whole face into the water, she gulped to save her life. Flakes of crimsons tinged the water, the marks of her fight fading into the water. She would still need more care, the woods had not fallen into hindsight yet, but she did feel much better. Quickly withdrawing her head from the water, her fur clung to her, giving her a dismal appearance. Blood still clung to small regions of her coat, but it was maintained to what had not been drenched by the lukewarm water.

She perked her ears as her savior spoke, his unsavory tone reminding her that he was still a demon of Erenyx no matter what he did for her. Nor was she one to be particularly thankful, for anything, even being given her life. Still, he seemed to find some value in her, and if they could reach a mutually beneficial agreement, she had no problem with him. And if he did try to swindle her, she would have his throat for it, this thought gave her a wry smile. With a renewed energy, though she was still rather wobbly from blood loss, she emerged from the water, nearly reborn, leaving the water on her coat so that it would continue to keep her cool. "Bravery or ferocity," She scoffed. "You make it sound as if I wish to be presented a knight, the prodigal son," Again she scorned him slightly, though she needed him, she would pay him no heed by allowing him to insult her with such words. "I challenged a beast and lost, that is all I will speak of it, to the likes of you at least," She added no extra mockery to the last words, it was not meant as abuse against his class. Merely that he was not one she would share the full story with, of course there was no one she would share the full story with, but he didn't need to know that either. Having risen from the crypt, she held her head just a bit higher and let her grip on that iron will loosen slightly. With that she let her voice hit the air in a tone that meant she wished to no longer speak of such things. "Lead on," If he wanted to fill the air with his ramblings, so be it, but he would draw no further into the forest of that day's sinister occurrences.

PostSubject: Re: At the Edge of the Void [Open] At the Edge of the Void [Open] Icon_minitimeMay 9th 2014, 07:36

[I’m sorry for this post . . . but there’s just no way he wouldn’t react like this and it had to be done. xDD]

Words kept pouring from her fight-worn jaw, intent on being more poisonous than the next and riddling, down to his very core, this tyrannical sense of lethality. The cream-furred maiden, although clearly in the need of a Healer, was a far more dangerous and threatening subject than he had expected. He wondered just how much of a demonic side she kept chained up on a leash (the truth behind such curiousities would never cease to be ironic). Yet, even still, as she gestured for him to lead on after allowing a series of scoffs and verbal lashes to drip from once bloody teeth, he simply remained in his seat, a grin wider than was likely known to any wolf stretching each corner of his blue-black lips. “Lead on? I am afraid not without a please after such a terribly rude addressal.” It was clearer than day that she had done little, if absolutely nothing at all, to offend him. Cheshire did not take offense; he simply acted upon it as though he had. If she wished to mock him with the creation of an analogy involving her knight in shining armour, and then go so forth as to speak lowly of what his ranking was meant to do for her while she was in such a condition, than she would not be receiving the help that she desperately needed without more work than he assumed that she would like.

“I believe a lesson on manners is required this very second if that please - maybe an I’m sorry to top it all off - doesn’t reach my ears. Thankfully, we have all the time in the world. Or, rather, I do.” She could save herself the embarrassment. She could continue on past him, neglecting her wounds, and walk herself the remainder of the distance to Erenyx’s camp. Then, if she still didn’t want to apologize and say please, locate a different Healer and waste even more time. He honestly wouldn’t care either way. It was her body at stake, and she could put it through as much, or as little, work as she wanted.

Maybe she was starting to understand how things worked with him. That smile across his twisted mouth wasn’t entirely a pleasant one, no - he was the kind of Healer that made proud on Erenyx’s reputation. He still healed when his assistance was needed, and he did so effectively, but his assistance was merely a touch harder to come by when the injured or the sick found themselves unable to tolerate his unusual personality. Indeed, there was a certain way that things worked around here; his smile that never ceased to fade was proof enough of that.

She might have sneered at this wolf's words, but it would have distorted her pretty face too much. Shaking herself, deciding she really preferred to be dry, she sat similarly to him, it was a bit of a comfort honestly. Her mind twisted and seethed, at first furious that he would address her as such, but it wasn't quite settled yet, still morphing and changing. She gave him a bit of credit, he was, in a sense, a silver tongue like herself. She didn't like sharing attributes with this fiend, but she had to be honest with herself, else she would dip even further into insanity. She gathered herself, trying to decide exactly how to react to his dismissal of her request. If anyone is being rude, it is he, messing with an injured warrior, he's more of a swine then I thought. Her demon hissed within her, anger coming from him in a burst of steam and smoke. He wanted to attack this imbecile, rip his throat from the rest of him and feast on the smart ass's heart. But the mistress had control and she knew this to be one of her own, no matter how much malice she felt for his phrasing.

"Oh my, rude?" Her voice changed, suddenly she was no longer a rough, tired Warrior, she was a surprised lady. Changing her tone slightly, she began to take it further, completely assuming the form of this damsel with confusion and surprise in her voice. "Why I meant no such thing, my apologies to the furthest extent, no such harm was intended," It would take a true fool to think that she was this damsel in distress she displayed herself as, although she was playing the character rather well. Instead she was making it clear that she would not go down without a fight and was blatantly fooling with him. The real question was her intent of the tease, was the lady having good fun with this wolf, or was she being the demon she had the power to be.

Coming to her feet, the slight rest rejuvenating her, she stood without shaking and her legs were steady as metal rods. Taking light, delicate steps, she neared the male, teasing him further by circling him and touching him with her downy cream tail, completely dry due to the nature of the air. She wondered if the male might fall for it, he was a brute after all, it's kind of in their nature. Taking a few steps off in the direction of Erenyx, she had lived here long enough to always know which way her home was. Going a few yards off she threw her head over her shoulder and looked at him, a face with a small amount of surprise and confusion. "Are you coming, sir?' She kept the false voice, she was near perfect at her characters. Would he follow? It was a question she didn't know the answer to, she didn't even have a guess. She was leaving either way, there were other healers who could help her, ones with less bite in their words.

[OOC- Trust me, you are fine, she is being a bitch, as usual. Gotta be true to your char :D]

Her next words were almost too pleasant to come across as believable. An expression once laced with zero tolerability and a Warrior’s ferocious ire had morphed, with the same ease she had been able to disrupt the water’s surface with the mere placement of a paw, into something far more kind-hearted and in need of forgiveness. Being the little trickster he was . . . he knew a trick when he saw one. It was refreshing to see another one of his kind so informed about the process of deception; and not a surprise at all when a smile spread across his jaw to greet this rare sight. He stayed put as the female went out of her way to circle him, her tail swiping him underneath his blue-black muzzle before she began to head off in the appropriate direction. Seduction? It was a common play, one that he had dabbled in upon numerous occasions within the life he had led outside of Erenyx. If, for the time being, she wished for him to play the role of the lustful fool that changed his ‘tude as soon as the beautiful she-wolf came close, then he would do so not out of the desire to please her, but the desire to mock her.

When she turned her head, acknowledging whether or not he was following, the Healer fluttered lovesick eyes and began to pursue at a steady trot. “Why, it’d be a pleasure to once again presume the role of your beloved escort!” He purposefully allowed the side of his muscular body to brush against her own, cerulean eyes alight with fascination for the specimen that she was. If she wanted him to play into her pawn, then, of course, he’d go out of his way to mess with her head and make it believable that she was succeeding. Everything about his body language was intended to appear as though swooning over her every movement. When she had flicked him underneath his jaw with her tail, she had, perhaps, unknowingly invited him to partake in as much contact as he wished. It was a dangerous gamble that she was attempting to master, and he only hoped that she could manage to keep up - what with her injuries.
