[OOC - After Con and Lynx have posted twice the NPC Bear can come into play.]

Careful steps trod the soft mud of the dark forest, leaving light impressions in the black dirt. The Enchanted Forest was no place for a pup to be, at least in the opinion of most, but not to Conláed. It was a good place for his plan, having things to weave around and shadows to hide within. He wondered if pack wolves and other creatures would be fearful of such a place as this, when there was nothing really to be afraid of but the darkness, which was a very nonsensical thing to fear when he thought about it since night was going to fall upon the lands at the end of every day. Even in the short period of time that he had existed, he had seen that the stars never failed to present themselves and were actually one of the few consistent things that recurred. He was quite certain that most of his brothers and sisters wouldn’t think twice about wandering into the depths of these woods. They had been brought up knowing that as rogues they would be able to go wherever they pleased and do what they wanted, not tied to a pack or any one place, so in a way they didn’t have much of a pre-programmed fear of the unknown. Conláed in particular didn't seem to fear anything. From what he assumed and what he had heard from his mother, pups from packs were closely guarded and would not be allowed to go wherever they wished. Even he and his siblings were not supposed to go far from home, since there were dangers around that they could not protect themselves from alone, yet he still got away to investigate things whenever his mother was away or distracted. For pups in a pack, he could understand they were treasured since they were the next generation to continue the life of the pack, but why was it necessary for him to be watched over all the time? After all, if he was forgotten about and left on his own it would be less for his mother to worry about and feed. The young brute ran his tongue across his maw at that thought. Perhaps others didn’t think about things so practically as him. Really, it was probably more significant that he wasn’t so apt at considering the importance of abstract concepts, such as love. If he had been, he would understand more of why his mother cared for him so much.

'The trees look like skeletons, with bones covered by rotting flesh...'

He stalked deeper through the mass of spindly, crooked trees, his ears pricked and swivelling to every noise and his green eyes scanning around him. What he was doing was dangerous, especially on his own, but he didn't fear for his life. For him it was all about pushing boundaries and constantly learning, because the more he knew the better he could use his knowledge for survival, and this test was to practice the art of outsmarting. The young brute wasn't so blinded by hope and desire that he wouldn't abort his mission if it started to fall apart either, so if anything, he would at least have something to occupy his striving mind and something to spend his time on. He had timed it so that he had arrived at the forest in the late afternoon, when the sun was not so bright but there was enough visibility for him to see around him should he need a quick escape. About a quarter of a mile back he had picked up the scent of blood at the edge of the woods, and from the trail it seemed that the prey had either been limping or been dragged into the forest so that whatever had killed the creature could consume it in peace. At that moment he wasn't sure which predator it was exactly, since he hadn't come across the scent before. He didn't need to know that though to know that an animal wasn't going to give up its food without a protest, he knew that enough from his siblings at mealtimes. How it was going to go down he couldn't know for sure, since he didn't know what he was faced with, but he could picture how the other beast would react. He would find out soon enough. The trail grew more pungent as it was fresher the nearer he got to the corpse's location. The 'pup' stopped for a moment in the shadows, gathering his thoughts together before he delved into action. It was then that he heard the steps of another off to his side. Pausing his stream of thoughts and ideas, he glanced in the direction of the approacher, peering slightly around a tree trunk in order to see who else was wandering beneath the dark branches.

The summer warmth did not seem to reach these lands and it was a chilled air that Lynx breathed in as she stood tall in the darkness. It had taken her emerald eyes a few moments to adjust to the gloominess beneath these trees after the bright light that she had been surrounded by only moments ago. Tendrils of fog wrapped themselves around her light coloured paws and Lynx grinned with excitement. This was actually her first time being here surprisingly enough. It seemed to be the one place that her mum was absolutely certain was off-limits to the pups, like even leaving the Rouge lands themselves wasn't supposed to be as bad as here. Which is why the first second that her mother had turned her back she had shot off in the direction of this dangerous place. She now stood only a few tail-lengths from the tree-line and already the darkness made her squint as she blinked continuously. It did not take long for her eyes to adjust and as soon as she was certain that she could see properly, she was hopping over fallen branches and making her way deeper into the forest. The first thing she noticed was the silence, no birds weighing down branches as they sung and chirped merrily. The only noises that reached her pricked ears were her own muffled pawsteps and the occasional whisper as breezes rustled the dark leaves high above. She could not see why her mother was so protective over her and her siblings, love was a stupid excuse yet she could not find a way her mother could be using them. Unless she was trying to make herself stronger to take on one of the packs? Even then, it would take a while before they would grow to be old enough to fight properly (that's what she'd been told anyway, not like she actually agreed..) and even then they were a very small family compared the size of the packs. Even Lynx knew that. But why fret over their safety then? She lashed her tail with frustration, not liking not knowing things. In the end she simply dropped the subject before it could get even more confusing if she tried to look deeper into it.

The mere fact that she was in this forest of weird crooked trees and foggy chilled air was quite an enjoyable thought but nothing had really happened. She was slightly disappointed but then again, what had she expected to happen? Other wolves rarely came here and all it was really was a dark and spooky forest. She had been about to turn and head back, see if there was anyone interesting around the Rogue lands and if not then trek to the neutral territories to see if there was any pack wolves wandering about that she could mess with when a sound made her freeze- dark ears swiveling in the direction it had come from and emerald gaze narrowing. Her heart beat raced and she ran her tongue over pearly white fangs excitedly. What would be found lumbering through the evil forest? She was very good at sneaking and keeping silent and the fact that everything seemed to sound muffled in here could only help. Dropping into a crouch she slunk forward, giddy with excitement as to what she might find. In her mind she was picturing all types of monstrous creatures that she knew deep down could not exist, even here. However as she neared, the scent began to become much more familiar. Frowning, she inhaled deeply and raised a brow. Surely it wasn't...but there he was, her own brother Conláed. He was standing alert himself and was staring right at her hiding spot. Dammit, what had given her away? She must've been stepping too heavily or something, of course since it was so silent here she supposed sound would travel...Revealing herself, the young ashen pelted fae would observe her brother coolly through glittering emerald eyes.

"Now, now Con. Haven't you heard? This is no place for pups to be wandering about" She scolded, tone mocking. She watched him curiously, what had brought her brother into these woods? Was he just bored like herself or was there a reason. She was slightly disappointed that she had not been the first of them to enter the darker land beneath these trees. It would have been fun to arrive home later and brag about her adventures and what beasts she had fought off. Of course her siblings would probably not believe her but it was something they all usually did, bragging to each other about the things they had gotten up to when their mother was distracted, usually making everything seem much more dramatic than it actually was. Not for the first time she realized how tough it must be being the mother of these rogue pups, but hey, it had been her fault to bring them into this world and really she'd be fine if she'd just let them get about doing their own things. After coming across her sibling she had let herself relax slightly and had not been as alert as she should've been, it was only now as she sniffed at the air that she caught the distinct scent of blood and could make out a sort of trail that Conláed had obviously been following. Something had dragged a meal through these trees not too long ago. A grin creeped along her maw. "Oh my brother, is this a trail you are following? What is it that you hope to find at the end?" She asked, eyes glowing mischievously. There was no way that he was going to finish this by himself, she was all too eager to get into a bit of trouble, it had been too long since anything fun had caught her attention.
