Out Of The Darkness (Azrael) Empty

The rugged terrain of Hollental Valley was dry but shady from various trees. Far down below sat a small river flowing swiftly, it’s currents strong but not strong enough to kill an adult wolf. The small fae stood at the top of one of the steep slopes, looking down at the river as it sparkled in the summer light. The steep slopes could be a danger if any wolf were to tumble down the side, and perhaps even kill a wolf. The small fae stood at the very edge now, looking over the valley with her head held high, her ears perked forward and her muzzle up. Her jaws were slightly parted the scent of Agavos drifting over her. All this land was the packs, it was thrilling to see and know. It reminded her of lands from home, and with the thought of home, it turned to Quinn and Lark. She sighed softly and felt her ears flatten against her head. It was a struggling conflict to have both the thoughts of Agavos and the thoughts of her siblings in her mind. The small fae swished her tail, before taking a seat in a softer patch of grass. She was close to the edge looking over the land, her golden gaze bright in the afternoon sunlight. The sun was warm, but it wasn’t overly hot, for she was near a shady area. The wind on the top of the slope was a bit stronger and fresh scents tingled her nostrils as she breathed in. There were rabbits not to far down the slope, and as the scent drifted towards her on the breeze she looked down and saw them hopping around trying to reach the top of the slope for fresh clover. A perfect opportunity. She thought and moved away from the edge, her small body slipping around the large pieces of brush. She crouched down silently looking at the edge of the hill where the clover was flourishing and waited.The two brown rabbits had found the clover in a matter of minutes and were eating it without much notice to the predator in the brush.

She moved away from the brush, silent on her paws. She looked at each area before she stepped, keeping an eye on the movement of the rabbits. Excitement was growing in her belly as she moved forward, her supple golden gaze bright and hungry. She was now only a few feet from them, and they hadn’t caught wind of her..yet. She wanted them to, she wanted them to run the opposite way of the edge. She was coming around their backside, and as the breeze whipped over the edge it took her scent with it. She watched the rabbits breath it in, and in a confused horror they took off. Esmé laughed, the sound bright and indifferent against the lands, the hunt was on and she was quick to race after them. Her small paws took off, and were almost a blur as she ran after the rabbits her paws hitting the hard dirt with an audible thumping sound. Esmé followed the rabbits, her pace fast but nothing too strenuous on her lungs. She caught the first rabbit as it was trying to turn, her jaws snapping onto it’s powerful back leg. The rabbit let out a loud scream as Esmé killed it, snapping it’s neck in her powerful jaws. The other rabbit had continued to run, but the fae was right on its trail. She leaped after this last one, her jaws parted a look of excitement and lust for killing in her eyes. She snapped down on the second larger brown rabbit her jaws wrapping around the midsection. There was a spray of blood as she bit down, staining her beautiful white and grey coat with warm crimson blood. She picked up her kill, light on her paws as she worked her way over to the other rabbit. Their blood mingling in a pool of blood, still fresh and warm. Esmé took a seat, the warm blood dripping off her muzzle and onto the dry dirt ground. After that run she felt warmed up and ready to do some more hunting, but she also wanted to look out over the land and wait for a while. The latter took over, and she sat next to her kills her blood stained fur slowly starting to dry in the heat. She turned to her shoulder licking the blood off of it, tried to clean herself up a little bit but she still looked like she had killed an elk. She chuckled and laid down, her head in her paws and her eyes watching the river flow far below. She couldn’t think of a better way to end the day, besides getting to eat one of her delicious smelling rabbits.

[Super sorry for the delay, miss Esmé]

Boredom had forced the wolf from his home. The make-shift den he had made in the dead of night was still standing strong. One day, he would need to re-enforce it and make it much stronger. Well, he would really only need to do that if the time ever came for thinking about starting a family. But that was far from his mind at this point. Instead, he just wanted to get to know the area, the pack itself, and the lands surrounding it. Black paws led the wolf from the lands he called home. His head swayed up and down with each step. His shoulders rolled back and forth as he propelled himself forward. Not a single thought was on his mind today. Especially after he had been trying hard to force all thoughts of Ebonee and their young from his mind. Today was the first day he had actually been able to rid himself of such horrible memories. The large male made his way through the terrain, making his way across through the rest of the pack. The first thing he saw was a large indent within the world. The valley had a small stream at the very bottom. It didn't appear to be very deep or move very fast. But he supposed it fed from high in the mountains somewhere. He stood at the top of the descent and watched a young fae start to go on a killing spree within the lands. What a strange thing to witness. If he hadn't known any better, he would think this fae was preparing her body for her heat this coming winter. She seemed intoxicated with blood lust as she killed and pillaged the small furry creatures. Not wanting to interfere with the psychopath, Azrael moved down the side of the slope. He headed for the water. He knew the refreshing drink would be good for him. As he made his way down, he couldn't help but want to taste the blood. Instead, he pressed forward and moved to lay in the small stream. It was nice to feel a little cooler than before. The sun had been such a menace to the large male, but he kept his thoughts to himself. He watched as the water sprung off the rock before him. It splashed and spread about.

{Apologies for the wait, Azrael}
No self grooming would ever get the blood fully cleaned from her pelt, so the only other option was to trek down the side of the valley and to the stream below. Picking up her two rabbits, their weight heavy she started to walk down the mountain side. The small fae found a path just on the other side of the log that had haphazardly sat along the mountain side. She moved down the side of the valley, feeling as if she would tumble with any wrong step. Once the ground became even, it hurt less to keep herself upright and she was able to walk steady. The trek down the side of valley had not been so bad, it would be going back up that would be the longest part. Swiveling her head she looked at the steep incline and shook her head. Walking towards the lazy flowing river, she breathed in. Many scents came to her all at once, but the one that stood out the most to her was another wolf. Leaning her head down, her slender neck curving down as she let her rabbits drop onto the hot earth she turned her head towards the scent. Her golden eyes focused on a large black male who sat near the water by himself.

The small fae continued to look at the male for a few more heartbeats before turning away and stepping into the cool flowing water. She dipped her muzzle in cleaning off any residue of the blood. The swiftly moving water cleaned off her paws, and when she leaned down a bit it cleaned off her chest as well. Once the blood was washed away, she watched the fragments of it wash downstream and away from them both. She stepped out of the water, the sun starting to dry her slightly wet fur. She shook off some remaining water, and picked up her two rabbits. She wasn’t sure if she remember the wolf’s name but he did look familiar. She walked over with the two rabbits and sat them down as she got close to him. She took a seat, her delicate haunches touching the hard stony soil. She looked him over, before speaking. “Hello, I am  Esmé.” She figured a slightly formal greeting would be a good way to break the ice. She lowered her head in a slight nod of greeting before sitting back up, the sunlight warm against her back. It caused shadows to arch across her fur, making her outlined in the grass. “I have some rabbits, if you are hungry I wouldn’t mind sharing.” She said looking at her catches, knowing that the pack still had plenty of food. She wasn’t worried about eating these rabbits. She could feel her stomach rumble with the thought of food. Now prey was plentiful but soon it would not be.
