The trees seemed to stretch for miles, all the way to the horizon where they nearly blocked out the sun. Leaves were beginning to fall, dotting the ground with warm reds, oranges, and yellows. A soft breeze was blowing through the nearly bare branches, sending even more leaves falling to the ground.

Quietly, a white male made his way through the woods, placing his paws precariously on the ground as to not make an unnecessary amount of noise. The sound of a trickling creek tickled his ears as he made his way in that direction, his mouth almost watering at the thought of fresh running water. A snapping twig caused the male to stop and stand still, his ear swiveling and his orange-gold eyes surveying the colorful ground.

Movement caught his attention. A small rabbit with its back to him was crouched next to a bush only yards away. Instantly, he crouched low to the ground, inching forward a few feet before the rabbit caught his scent. Before it was able to run off, the male pounced, grabbing it by the back of the neck and killing it instantly. Rejuvenated simply by the small victory, he trotted the rest of the way to the creek and set the rabbit down next to the bank.

He lowered his head and took a long drink from the stream, the cold water off the mountain kicking him in the gut, a feeling he loved tremendously. Deciding it would be common courtesy to wait for the Alpha and offering him some of his meal before he began to consume it himself, he sat next to his kill and howled, a patient song requesting audience with the Alpha and any other pack members that would like to give him some company.
